I already failed NaBloWriMo?!!?

Yep. Forgot to post anything yesterday. My excuse is that I had an appointment with a plastic surgeon. No, seriously. I've got this (benign) skin cancer thing I have to have cut out of my forehead and this guy's going to make sure I don't end up with a big hole in my head. Unfortunately it seems I will have scarring, and permanent numbness on a part of my scalp. This thing is in a really unfortunate position on my forehead where a prominent nerve happens to sit. Luckily though, the plastic surgeon informed me he doesn't plan on pulling my skin together vertically, meaning I won't have one eyebrow permanently 2 inches higher than the other (okay, that's me paraphrasing, but you get the gist). Good to know, doc. Good to know!

Damn you, hole in the ozone layer!!

But back to my NaBlo plans... To be honest, I didn't even realise there were prompts for this thing. I've missed every prompt so far. Do I not rock, people?! Anyway, I thought I'd respond to the first 3 prompts to date, as briefly as I can. 1) Why do you blog? Because it was suggested all aspiring authors should blog; because blogging writers are super cool; and 'cause I like to write! 2) If you could live the life of any heroine or hero from one of your favorite books, which one would it be? I saw someone else mention Elizabeth Bennett, and I thought that was a really good call! 3) Many people have lucky socks or shirts or stones or pens. Is there an object you own that you consider lucky? If so, why? I know this is a really boring answer, but...no.

With that, I'm outta here!

  1. You clearly missed the message that you DO NOT have to follow the prompt missy. They are only there to help out if you don't know what to write. You already have a style. Stick with it. Sorry to hear about the benign skin cancer thing but thank Lugh (see today's blog post) it's benign! Cheers!

  2. I did notice that today, as I was polishing up this post, but hey I was already ready to post so...I just went with it. LOL.

    From that comment about Lugh, I already have a sneaking suspicion I may know what your post involves (at least to a degree), but I'm going to go and check it out! hehe

  3. I think it doesn't count as missing a day if you bring a note from the doctor. Here's hoping everything goes well with the procedure(s).

  4. 'Good to know, doc. Good to know!'

    Lol, your posts always make me laugh! I hope the procedure goes well - am so happy it's benign.

  5. @Cheryl - I think I agree with you there!! I've got a fair few notes from this doctor and others, too. hehe. Maybe that'll be excuse enough if I happen to miss any more entries during this month!

    @Christine - glad I can make you laugh! I'm trying to make myself laugh with this pesky thing too. And yeah, I'm happy it's benign too. I'm lucky, I know that for sure.

  6. I agree. With a doctor's note it is not a miss. ;)

    I generally write too early to get the daily 'suggestion' so I'm just blathering my way through.

  9. Good luck when you have the procedure, Trisha. SO happy that your skin cancer is benign!

    LOL about NaBloPoMo. I've done it before and didn't know there were daily prompts until reading your post just now. How is that for missing the boat? Also, I think you can make up for the missed day by posting twice on one day. If you wanted to do that.

    Take care of yourself. I'll be sending positive thoughts your way.

  10. Good thing the skin cancer was detected early. I am dealing with 'spots' myself. Dang.

    Keep writing. Take care!

  13. I had skin cancer removed from my neck ten years ago. They told me I'd have a horrible scar but you can't even see where I was cut now. I just thought I'd share. I wish for a quick and painless recovery for you. Let us know how you are doing.

  14. I'm glad to hear it's benign! And that's as good an excuse for missing a post as any.

  15. Maybe you've got a lucky blog?
    Good luck with the surgery thing! My sister had a similar thing, but it was on the shoulder...

  16. Hey, thanks everyone for the comments!

    @Judie - yep, I tend to err on the side of blathering, too. I like to think I'm pretty good at it!

    @Michael - especially down here in Aus where we are right under the hole!

    @Not Hannah - thanks! :)

    @Sheery - well, this one's called NaBloWriMo, not sure if it's different to the Po one? hehe

    @Susan - it sucks, huh?? Oh well...part of living under the sun I guess!

    @Laura - thanks for the well wishes! And oooh, a potential beta. Thanks for the comment, I'll let you know when I'm ready to send stuff out!

    @Ciara - yeah, for all I know I won't have a terrible scar. I know they can often fade with time. I guess I'm more worried about the numb patch of scalp. I'll get used to that too no doubt.

    @Eagle - thanks!

    @Deniz - ooh, lucky blog. I like that idea. hehe.
