Day 8 of NaBloWriMo, and no prompt to go on since yesterday's. I've done a tiny bit of work on my paper edit transfer to digital, but not much. I'm up to page 15 of 188 pages. And gee, it's not long till October's over!! Time is running out. In short, I've got to get my act together! I also have yet to write this week's Chrysalis story, but oh well, there's always tomorrow (Sunday) night.
At present I'm watching DEEP IMPACT, an ARMAGEDDON-style end-of-the-world story that is, quite frankly, way better than ARMAGEDDON. This is one of the movies I looked at while writing up my honours thesis in 2002. If you're into that kind of movie and haven't seen DEEP IMPACT, I recommend it for sure!
This is going to be one of those "short" blog entries where I end it...now. But really I just wanted to say hi! I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
Hi Back! *waves*
ReplyDeleteYou have a good weekend too.
Ooh, Deep Impact's one of my favorite disaster movies. Morgan Freeman as the president...the violin music that plays when everyone's trying to leave the city...I admit, I've cried over that one. :P
ReplyDeleteHi! Enjoy your films - loved Deep Impact too!
ReplyDeleteHave a fab weekend

PS - I can start Beta reading any time it's good for you. Sorry to have answered again in your comments but don't have an email address for you. And any-which-way is good from me - whatever's most useful to you... chapter by chapter or all at once. Just let me know, and also what you hope to gain from your Beta readers ( everyone seems to have different requests / focuses for this stage in the game)

@Judie - thanks! It's been pretty good so far.
ReplyDelete@Michael - it's awesome huh?? Trust me, I get a few tears in my eyes at various points too. most significantly when Jenny gets the call about her mum. argh!
@Laura - thanks! and as for beta-ing, that's very exciting!! Thanks. I'll leave you my email address so we can be in touch on email, and I can tell you about what I want out of a beta-reader then. :)
And you're keeping at it! It's all about the attempt not the writing a great blog entry. I don't know if I will get one done tonight but I'm glad you did!
ReplyDeleteWell, actually technically I did, because I posted on my political blog. I just added a video and copied and posted my Thursday post but it's still posting!
ReplyDeleteDanette - I missed a day early on (day 2 I think. hehe), so you're not alone!
ReplyDeleteI read this blog a few days ago actually, and it prompted me to watch Deep Impact again. Thanks, I was in the mood for a good old disaster story. I forgot about that one; it was a great story, but... was it just me, did Tea Leoni seemed stilted in her performance? I just didn't believe her, and felt sorry for the good folks of America that this was how they were hearing about armageddon. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed it again. Been watching lots of others too, such as Titanic as well as, for whatever reason, downloading a great deal of movies from the 1930s - something very familiar about them. Perhaps its the rain. PS, been following your blogs too, my you seem to have committed to a lot of stuff, the Chrysalis and NaBloWriMo... if you watched Deep Impact for the writing, and you get a spare moment, which doesn't seem likely, may I recommend Moonstruck for its - I was surprised how good the screenplay was.
ReplyDelete@SP - no worries! Glad to discover other fans of the movie! hehe. As for Tea Leoni's role, to be honest I thought she did pretty well. I liked that she was more 'flat' than your typical theatrical, over-the-top newsreader. When she was reading out the part about people over 50 not being included in the 'raffle', I thought you could tell she was struggling to keep her cool. I really liked her character.
ReplyDeleteI also LOVED how things turned out for her in the end. I thought it was really original, compared with other movies where the heroes all survive except for the odd one you don't care about all that much.
Yes, I loved that choice too actually, killing off the main character; quite heartfelt when she hugged her dad as the wave came to engulf them, and good cinematography too with the whole tsunami in the city thing.
