This year my A to Z theme harks back to 2012's theme, in which I listed an A-to-Z of books from my GoodReads "TBR" shelf. This year I want to revisit that list and report on which ones I've read, and what rating I gave them. Where the book hasn't been read, I'll mention other books starting with that letter I have read since 2012. ;)
"S" ... THE SILMARILLION
Status: Not Read
Some of my favourite "S" books read:
Salem Falls - Jodi Picoult. 4 stars.
Shade of Vampire, A (Shade of Vampire, #1) - Bella Forrest. 4 stars.
Sister - Rosamund Lupton. 4 stars.
Spiral - Koji Suzuki. 4 stars.
Starstruck (Starstruck, #1) - Brenda Hiatt. 4 stars.
Survival (Species Imperative, #1) - Julie E. Czerneda. 4 stars.
I recognize you from the A to Z Challenge last year. I will keep a lookout for all of these books that begin with the letter S. I am doing the A to Z Challenge this year, as well.

I read the the Silmarillion. I enjoyed it well enough. It was much like reading the bible. I think that was on purpose.
ReplyDeleteOnce again I haven't read any of these. I've always thought I was fairly well read but your challenge posts are making me think otherwise LOL.
ReplyDeleteI read the Silmarillion YEARS ago. It was not like the Lord of the Rings, it more a pre-history and doesn't really read like a story. It's been so long I might have to pick it up again.
ReplyDeleteThat's the one Tolkien book I have yet to read ...
ReplyDelete*bows head in shame*
I'm with Julie. I haven't read any of these books. I also thought I was well-read but I guess not. haha
ReplyDeleteThe S book that popped into my head is Sam's Letters to Jennifer. A book I enjoyed by James Patterson. :)
The only one I read is Jodi Picoult's, because I watch for anything she writes.

My dad has a very nice copy of The Silmarillion that I used to look through as a child. He told me all those stories when we would sit together out on the deck and stargaze; when I finally read them for myself they didn't seem as good as when Dad had told them!
ReplyDelete'Salem's Lot is another great S book.
HI Trisha - I think once the A-Z is over I need to get myself organised with audio and my phone or ipad or both or generally organised!
ReplyDeleteCheers - these will all be good reminders for me to check out - Hilary
Good luck - that one is a tough read.
ReplyDeleteNope, I haven't read any of these either!
ReplyDeleteThis is embarrassing, but I haven't read a single book on your list today. My S's consist of A Swiftly Tilting planet, Switched (Hocking), Strength (Carried Butler), Stolen (Lucy Christopher), The Stinky Cheese Man, Sleeper (S.M. Johnston), Shadow and Bone, Searching for Dragons, The Savage Grace, and several others.
ReplyDeleteTrue Heroes from A to Z
I read The Silmarillion a long time ago but I haven't read any of the other books on your list.
ReplyDeleteJodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors. I haven't read any of the others on this list.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read a single one! How sad :(
ReplyDeleteI slogged through it, but I can't say as I enjoyed it. Dry, dry, dry stuff.
ReplyDeleteMy A to Z Challenge
I have not read any books from the S list.
ReplyDeleteAfraid I haven't read any of these either!
ReplyDeleteDon't feel bad about Silmarillion being in your pile....I bought it when it was published and I still have not read it.
ReplyDeleteInteresting tidbit-that book was the source for the name of one of my favorite bands, Marillion. Well, interesting to me, anyway!

Aww, it's too bad you didn't read this one. I can see how it would take longer than some others though. I just love the legend/fairy story quality to the tales.
