During April a bunch of bloggers are participating in the A-to-Z blogging challenge of 2013. My theme for 2013 is an A-to-Z list of classic Aussie tunes - either classic or just plain songs I like. Today's letter is "N", and the song I've chosen is:
Brash and Sassy are a little collective from my home town who I only ever saw on the tiniest stage really early on festival days (well, I saw them in clubs too, but what I'm saying is that it's pretty impressive they have a vid clip to show off!). This is such a fun group to see perform (you may get that inkling from watching the clip). The ladies are sassy in a glittery, shoulder-padded 80s sort of way, and boy do they have good hair. They also read poetry about men with rippling muscles in between songs. This song has lyrics well worth paying attention to. Also, I'm fairly sure the park in the vid is the one located just around the corner from where I live! I could be wrong, but it just looks awfully familiar. ;)
Honourable mentions:
- Not the Same by Bodyjar (I think this is my fave song by them)
- Naughty by Skulker (a kick-arse all-girl rock band) official clip with bad sound
- Never Again by Neon
- Need You Tonight by INXS
- Never Had So Much Fun by Frenzal Rhomb
- Never Knew by Do the Robot
- Ninetytwo by the Disguise (fairly sure I was at this gig!)
- Nuthin' For You by the Volcanics (a Perth band)
- Nowhere (Everywhere) by the Monday Code
- NYC Rules Ok! by Anna Copa Cabanna
Love it!! Has an 80's vibe to it too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great combination: sparkles, music, and poetry.
ReplyDeleteI like it. Never heard of them before.

ReplyDeleteYou've been showcasing some awesome bands and songs!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of this one!
I love any music with a touch of 80's... that was THE best music decade...! IMHO.

I love 80s glittery shoulder-pad craziness so I'm sure I would love this group. The title of the song is funny.
ReplyDeleteVery fun. And I used to dress just like that when I pushed a stroller :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! Enjoy A to Z.
I loved this! Great park, too :)
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of them, but I like it. I'm an 80's girl.
ReplyDeleteIt's neat that the park is right by where you live!
ReplyDeleteI lived in Australia during the 80's (84-94). Sydney area, though. Pleased to meet you :-)
ReplyDeleteGood Choice, love several of them. :-) Now off to hum the rest of the day.
ReplyDeleteI came here looking for a nice song and you didn't disappoint me! :D
ReplyDeleteQuite an interesting name for a song.
ReplyDeleteI almost thought this was a cover of Herman Hermits' No Milk Today.
ReplyDeleteI bet she's cringing at that red and orange outfit she wore at the beginning of that video... ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Tricia .. fun video - and it's great that you've found a clip of them ... the song name was interesting .. and I thought of No Milk Today too ...
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting over on my blog ..
Cheers Hilary
Need You Tonight is my N song, no question.
ReplyDeleteRather fond of No Aphrodisiac too.
Not a huge Whitlams fan, but that is one I can usually tolerate ;) Ironically my fave song of theirs that I've heard is a cover they did!
DeleteI added the INXS, which somehow escaped my list as well. I must have had a faulty master list to work with, I think! So bad that I also forgot my fave Tumbleweed song originally ;) (Daddy Long Legs)
Gosh. They're not my favourite band, but probably the band I've seen most live. Most recently doing Eternal Nightcap in its entirety, most of the songs on it are good.
DeleteCan't say I know Daddy Long Legs. Tumbleweed is a band I never got into, which is weird, they're just what I like in my 90s music.
