A-Z '13 - Coma

The A-to-Z blogging challenge of 2013 is going on, and we're up to C today. My theme for 2013 is an A-to-Z list of classic Aussie tunes. Well, they're either classic or just plain songs I like. Check out these must-"C" songs (ba-dom-chsshhh!):

Coma - Max Sharam

Max Sharam is really not very well known, and even in Australia I think most people have forgotten her. Back in the day I bought two versions of her single "Coma" (one of which was extended with some extra songs to be more like an EP). The single(s) featured some amazing b-sides, but the title track is great too. I like that Max Sharam is a little bit quirky, and a lot musically clever. Apparently she still does shows, but I have no idea what music she's released since "Coma".

  2. I love that you're devoting the challenge specifically to Australian songs - a good chance for those of us from elsewhere to be exposed.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Good luck with the rest of the challenge!

  4. I like your theme, I don't know a lot of Australian indie. Today's singer from Max Sharam was harder work to listen to than The Stems which I enjoyed a lot.

  5. Interesting topic. I can't say I've listened to much Australian music, so I enjoyed the introduction.

  6. It's snappier than I'd expect for Coma as a title, but a very interesting bit of music.

  8. Thank you for introducing me to Max Sharam. I hear a bit of the Cocteau Twins who I really loved.

  13. Love Max! I bought the album on tape back in the day. I think I bought the CD, or bought it digitally since.

    Love the Mavis's too.
I'd possibly have considered Cathy's Clown, and Champion over Chemical Heart.
Cheap Wine, Choir Girl from chisel. Icehouse Crazy.
And a personal little favourite, The Porkers - Chemical Imbalance.

    2. I only found out about the Porkers from a chick I used to chat to online many years ago, she used to do their merch.

Crazy I'm sure was a single from Man of Colours!
