During April a bunch of bloggers are participating in the A-to-Z blogging challenge of 2013. My theme for 2013 is an A-to-Z list of classic Aussie tunes - either classic or just plain songs I like. We had a break yesterday but today it's all on again. For my "G" song I've chosen:
I kinda had to, right? This is a pretty definitive "Aussie" song and it happens to be another that was featured on the Young Einstein soundtrack (like my letter "A" song). This song is definitely one of my faves of all time (I tend to like Icehouse's songs in general), and it's one I never fail to hear every Australia Day if I'm tuned into the radio down at the river ahead of the fireworks. :)
Honourable mentions:
- Glockenpop by Spiderbait
- Glossy Books by Bodyjar
- Gennaia's Sweet Gateau by Brash and Sassy
- Goodbye, Good Mornings (Acoustic Remix) by Josivac
I loved this! Music is the best isn't it?

PS: one of my sons is the composer and the lead guitarist in an alternative classic rock band, very popular, called The Ruse(http://rusemusic.com/). They are on FB, too. My son's name is Jim. :)
I can see how this would pop up on Australia Day. I bet the lyrics capture how a lot of people feel about their home.
ReplyDeleteI've always liked Icehouse. Great song. :)
ReplyDeleteTrish, I am realizing our music tastes are alike. Many songs you've posted are new but they have a beat to it that I truly enjoy. :)
ReplyDeleteI like your theme. You're a good ambassador for Australian music, and AtoZ is a good international vehicle to share your music.

What a great theme for the challenge, and a fantastic song for G. I've never been to the land down under but someday... someday.
