During April a bunch of bloggers are participating in the A-to-Z blogging challenge of 2013. My theme for 2013 is an A-to-Z list of classic Aussie tunes - either classic or just plain songs I like. Today's letter is "T", and the songs I've chosen are:
I admit it - I don't know most of Noiseworks's songs. Recently, though, I rediscovered this absolute classic from the late 80s and fell in love (and not just 'cause of how hot Jon Stevens is in the clip!). It's one of those songs that gives me chills when I listen to it up really loud (which is how I listen to most of my music, actually!). With Ratcat, I have to admit I wasn't much of a fan back in the day, though I won their CD in a magazine comp at the age of 10. But since then I've paid them more attention and they've got some really great songs. This is probably my favourite, though there's a brilliant live mix (the Metro Choir mix) which features a crowd of teenaged girls screaming along with every word, almost drowning out the rest of the song (it's very awesome).
Honourable mentions:
- Tales From the Forest of Gnomes by Wolfmother
- Tear Ducts by Laura Imbruglia
- Teenager of the Year (Acoustic) by Lo-Tel (non-acoustic and less pretty version here)
- This Guy's in Love by the Reels
- This is the Sound and Tearing Me Up by Primary
- Three Dimensions by Something For Kate
- Through the Clover by Stonefield (formerly Iotah)
- Thunder by the Mavis's
- Thunderstruck by AC/DC
- Tongue like a Tether by Love Outside Andromeda
- Torn by Natalie Imbruglia
- Treasures by Felicity Groom
- Treaty by Yothu Yindi
First time I heard either one, but both are very good.
ReplyDelete#1 what fun! lol
Deletegood ones again!
ReplyDeleteWhoa It's the first time I heard about either of them and they are both amazing! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteNice Music.
ReplyDeleteHmm. I've only heard of one person - and she's on the honorable mentions list! :)

Loved Touch. No so much love for That Ain't Bad...and it wasn't bad, just not my fave.
ReplyDeleteI keep forgetting you're going by song title-I thought there was a song by the band Touch I'd not heard of (but they were a US band).
ReplyDeleteI saw Wolfmother was a runner-up...I love their work-anxiously waiting for album number three....
Quite good.
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to the second one today. I like the strong punk influence.
ReplyDeleteI love rediscovering bands I have not listened to for awhile.
ReplyDeleteI also like the second song, as it reminds me of my punky days.

I liked That Ain't Bad a lot. It's certainly what I'd have listened to back in the day—bouncy with a very slight punk vibe. That said, the intro to the video for Touch is GORGEOUS!

I'm loving all of this "new to me" music. :D
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Torn by Natalie Imbruglia, and loved how she looked in that video - I spent a while trying to model myself on that look, but never quite got it.
ReplyDeleteGreat songs that I would happily listen to now, back in the day though I am ashamed to say it would probably have been Too Many Broken Hearts by Jason Donovan (I was only 9).
ReplyDeletehahahaha......... thanks for the giggle ;) I had totally forgotten about Jason Donovan. I just remember him being blonde...I think?
DeleteNice tunes! So many artists I don't know. Is Laura Imbruglia related to Natalie?
ReplyDeleteYep, Laura is Natalie's little (I believe) sister. Her style is quite different to her more famous sisters but I quite like it! Her first album was a nice surprise when I heard it.
DeleteGosh, you have so many good T songs too.
ReplyDeleteThrow Your Arms Around Me. Has to be top.
Hate to say that I...don't really like that song. hehe
DeleteYou're obviously insane. :P
DeleteObviously! hehehe. I just think it's a bit wanky. ;)
