It's April 1st, meaning that it's time for the A-to-Z blogging challenge of 2013 to begin. At almost the last minute I decided to run through a list of classic Aussie tunes for this year's challenge. Well, they're either classic or just plain songs I like. So without further ado, here's A!
The Stems enjoyed their heydey back in the 80s, but they occasionally reunite to show their old fans a good time. This song is an old classic which appeared on the soundtrack for Young Einstein (a fave movie of my bro and I when we were kids).
Honourable mentions:
- Angels of the Bowling Green by Augie March
- Acid Rain by Silverchair
- The Astronaut by Something For Kate
- Afterglow by Incursion
- Astral Boy by Killing Heidi
- Abel Saturn by Purplene
- Antenna by The Church
Thanks for this....I am going to do a lot of learning! And good luck with the anthology
ReplyDeleteI wasn't expecting tune. Good luck with the anthology. Very exciting.
ReplyDeleteCool theme! I'll be back!
ReplyDeleteHello, Trisha! This is a great theme. I like the song and will have to check out the other choices for A.
ReplyDeleteHappy A to Z-ing! from Laura Marcella @ Wavy Lines
Great theme. I don't know much about Aussie music past Men at Work, so your posts will be educational and entertaining.
ReplyDeleteLoved the song! Will have to look for The Stems next time I'm shopping for music. Never heard of them (I'm from Mexico, and you can imagine there wasn't much hype for Australian music there before INXS), but they sound good :) Thanks for the intro! Visiting from the A-Z challenge :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the challenge! I participated last year and had a blast!

Love the tune! Thank you. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful tune - what a swell idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat a flashback! Great start to the Challenge.
ReplyDeleteCool that you're doing songs! I don't remember this one, but I like it. BTW I'm going to an 80s party this weekend and still trying to decide on a costume. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm not familiar with any of your choices - different generations, different locations - but i loved the tune!
ReplyDeleteCool video! Nice choice for the Challenge.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to more Aussie music! I liked them, fun 80's music.
ReplyDeleteShannon at The Warrior Muse
Your doing a good challenge. Interesting to hear Aussie music from back in the day!
ReplyDeleteKeep Calm and A-Z
An A-Z of learning English
Round the world from A to Z
Great theme. Loved Young Einstein. What a hoot!
ReplyDeleteA local tv station just did a 10 worst and 10 best Aussie songs. Somebody I Used to Know was best of course.
Of course that is an amazing song, but it seems weird to have a "best song of all time" that only just came out a year ago or something :P
DeleteGreat idea for the challenge and unique so far.
ReplyDeleteHi, Trisha,
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you... Thanks for dropping by my blog yesterday. And, yes, this challenge is a bit overwhelming, but if we take it one day at a time we should survive and hopefully come out with some great new blogger friends!
Hadn't heard of them until now, but I liked it a lot. The video was very Beetlesesque.
ReplyDeleteThey have a great sound.
ReplyDeleteGosh!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of doing it based on aussie music.
I'd possibly have gone with MGF's All of Them Ladies, Custard's Apartment, Cruel Sea's Anybody But You. But I think my winner would be The Church, Always With You.
