A to Z 2015 - "C" Photos

I'm back for Day 3 of the A-to-Z 2015, and today's letter is "C".

I decided (last minute, as usual) to do a photography theme this year. For my letter C, I chose "Coast". So here are some 'coast' photos:

A-Z '13 - From the Sea

The A-to-Z blogging challenge of 2013 is going on, and today we're up to "F". My theme for 2013 is an A-to-Z list of classic Aussie tunes - either classic or just plain songs I like. For today's song I've chosen:

From the Sea - Eskimo Joe

Eskimo Joe are another band from my hometown who have done fairly well nation-wide. Their biggest hit to date has been "Black Fingernails, Red Wine", though I still kind of think of them as they were when their first single, "Sweater", was released back in the 90s. I'm not really a huge fan of this band, to be honest, but I think this song is great. And not just 'cause it's meant to be a homage to the "Freo Doctor".

A-Z '13 - At First Sight

It's April 1st, meaning that it's time for the A-to-Z blogging challenge of 2013 to begin. At almost the last minute I decided to run through a list of classic Aussie tunes for this year's challenge. Well, they're either classic or just plain songs I like. So without further ado, here's A!

At First Sight - The Stems

The Stems enjoyed their heydey back in the 80s, but they occasionally reunite to show their old fans a good time. This song is an old classic which appeared on the soundtrack for Young Einstein (a fave movie of my bro and I when we were kids).

33,700 or something

Oh my! I forgot to post yesterday. I have failed NoJoMo! But at least it wasn't an official goal. ;) My word count in Scrivener is something like 33,700. Over the count I had to get to, anyway. In Word it's 33,533. I think that is still over the required count. Right now, my writing sessions feel like pretty hard slogs. This weekend is kind of full too, so I'm going to have a hard time getting any momentum. But I'll do what I can, even if it's the bare minimum, and be happy with that.

I didn't mention this yet, but I decided to add Mack's point of view to the story. So there are sections from his point of view, as well as from Danna's. It's kind of cool. His sections tend to be much shorter than hers, which in my experience can be quite typical of boys vs. girls. I think it fits.

Anyway...hope everyone's going well with NaNo and other assorted projects! I have yet to write this week's Chrysalis story. Yikes. Oh, and P.S. That picture above is another from the Fremantle Monument. I shared some pics from there a while back in this post, on another stormy day.

100,000 - 23,482 = 76,518...right?

Day 6 of NaNo is over, and I've written 23,482 words. I'm pretty sure I've written tomorrow's quota already (unless I am making a horrible mistake and my computer's in-built calculator is lying to my FACE!). It's good to have a buffer, but by no means do I feel comfortable just yet. After all, I have another 76,518 words to write in November!

Above is a picture of one of our beaches here in Perth (actually, South Beach in Fremantle), which I took a couple of days ago. Pretty, huh?

Check out my favourite blog posts

I have a page on this blog called "Me Likey" (hey, I was trying to fit the title into my tabs so they didn't take up two rows...) on which I have listed some of my favourite blog posts written by other bloggers. However, until a few days ago, I had totally forgotten the page existed. I read a blog post today on C.A. Marshall's blog, and though it belonged on the page (so added it). Then I figured some of the other posts on there might be useful to you guys too! However, this is also a call for more ideas. Are there any awesome blog posts you've read lately that you think I'd like?

In other news, I'm getting excited about NaNoWriMo this year! I have a bunch of friends who are already talking about it, including some folks who will be new to the experience this year (YEAH!!), and it made me realise that it's not too far away. Exciting!! Are you participating in NaNoWriMo 2011?

In closing, I thought I'd share a couple of photos I took recently of where I work (okay, so the library isn't RIGHT HERE, but this is a few hundred meters' walk from where I do work, in Fremantle, WA):

A-Z blogging challenge "F" - Fremantle

I was tempted to write about Firefly, and I even briefly considered the Foo Fighters, but then I had the brilliant (ha) flash of inspiration that led me to settle on Fremantle instead. I work right in "Freo", as locals call it, a stone's throw from the Esplanade in one direction and the Roundhouse in another. I'm a south-of-the-river girl and proud of it!

Anyway, here's some information about good ole Freo for your knowledge-ingesting pleasure (that sounds kind of gross, doesn't it?!).

Fremantle is about 20-30 mins drive from Perth's city centre, and is one of three main "centres" in the city region - the third being Joondalup way up north. Fremantle is known for its hippies, but it also features some bikies (when I was a pizza delivery chick I delivered pizza to one of the famous bikie gangs near Freo) and, of course, professionals like me! The University of Notre Dame Australia is to the Western end of "old Fremantle", not far from the Roundhouse. Café 55 is where I get my morning coffee, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting!

The great thing about working in Freo (apart from how pretty it is) is that you have so many awesome pubs/other eateries to choose from when buying lunch. My colleagues and I go out once a week to Little Creatures Brewery (or somewhere else if the mood takes us). Little Creatures is kind of famous around Australia. People come from interstate to gawk at the original brewery across the Esplanade in Freo.

Some pictures of mine from around the Freo area:

And finally I must mention my footy team, the Fremantle Dockers (yes, this is a 2010 poster but I haven't seen a 2011 one yet :D).

Gotta love a man who wears purple!
