Laughter is the Best Medicine Blogfest

Okay, it's time for the above, hosted by Leigh T. Moore and Dr K. From the moment I signed up for this, I had a joke in mind. It's the joke I always tell people whenever they ask me to tell a joke. It's the only joke I really know off by heart. I love it, because...well, it's lame. And I like lame. ;)

So here goes...my joke! (Paraphrased slightly; it's been so long since I heard/saw the original that I don't know EXACTLY how it goes...)

The baby tomato was walking along the street with his mummy and daddy, and he was falling behind. The daddy tomato turned around and yelled, "Oh, KETCHUP!"

I guess it's a little ironic that I love this joke so much, when I'm an Aussie and we don't even call it ketchup - it's tomato sauce, people!! Still, that's my joke and I'm sticking to it. ;)

  9. And this reminds me of a story my best friend told me a couple of weeks ago. Her family moved to New Zealand (from Washington, DC) last fall. She sent her husband to the grocery store to buy what we call tomato sauce for a dish she was preparing. He came back with a can of tomato sauce that was actually ketchup. Lesson learned!

    @Liz - aww that's so cute!! Guess it could be about apricots in a jam too :D

    @Jessica - wheeee!

    @VB - it's not easy moving countries, esp. to weird places like NZ. hehe j/k (my heritage is Kiwi)

    @Sophie - what exactly was your character's name? lol

    @Hart - I've got a friend who teaches pre-school, her stories are really cute :)

    @The Red Angel - it's cute partly 'cause it has a baby tomato in it. I love baby things (well, except actual babies ... haha)

  17. Nice. I appreciate lame jokes, too.

    Question: if you call ketchup tomato sauce, what do you call tomato sauce?

  18. To an above comment: ketchup is technically spelled catchup. Everyone just spells it different because of the brand.

  19. Well, that shows how much I know about ketchup :D I have a good excuse, being Australian. hehe

    @Teralyn - if you mean tomato sauce as described above by LTM, then i guess we call it pizza sauce. Though I only ever have tomato paste on my pizza bases (when I'm making them).
