Goals update (+awards)

Ironic, really, that I've only had one day off blogging since the A-Z Challenge ended. I guess that's typical of me, though. Still, it's just so tempting to do a Goal update now that I can; now that I don't have to worry about what letter I'm writing about.

Firstly, I want to mention that I find this weird...

That's the URL to my Goals 2011 page. Notice that the "a" is missing from 'goals'? Weeeeird! Why choose the 'a' to miss? Why not the 'o' or the 's'? Anyway...

  • Goal #3 in the list has been reworded so that it requires me to complete my latest round of revisions for SUNDOWN. I am relying on my ElitistCritques buddies' critiques for this, but once I'm done with my own current rewrite/revision, I'll print it out & start my paper edit whether or not they've given me crits to go on for all of it. It's a big job, critiquing an entire novel. Rather a daunting prospect, for me at least. And they are all busy with their own stuff, including exams and our own Chrysalis Experiment.
  • Speaking of Chrysalis, Goal #7 in the list is coming along nicely - we are up to Week 18, and the prompt is up. Last week I started my story on Saturday (with a Sunday deadline), and it was for my own prompt. Generally I like to get started a lot sooner than that. So I might have a crack at story #18 this evening. Then again, considering the wild weekend of hardly any revision I just had, I'm really quite desperate to get stuck back into SUNDOWN.
  • Goal #8, writing at least once a week in this blog, is not a worry at all, as you may or may not have noticed.
  • Goal #9, win NaNoWriMo 2011 - well, I have two novel ideas now, so I'm thinking this year I might set myself a new kind of challenge. Writing two novels. I've seen others do it, and do even more in some cases. So why can't I? I figure I'll give myself till Nov 15th to work on Novel #1, then move onto Novel #2, regardless of whether the first is done. My goal will be finishing both. Last year, I hit 50k by day 6, so I'm sure I can complete novel #1 by Nov 15th.
  • Goal #11 - I haven't touched NAUSICAA since March 6 this year. I never did get around to revising for that submission, either. But I will get to it!
  • Goal #12 of reading 25 books this year...

Trisha has read 15 books toward her goal of 25 books.

FYI, currently I'm reading Across the Universe by Beth Revis!
  • And finally, Goal #13, the Classic Book Club at A'vron - I have read all 3 books for this so far, but we are having a break for May (not my idea!), and in June we'll be reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass. I can't wait!

In conclusion, as mentioned recently I won this award:

So a big thank you to Deirdra at A Storybook World for this award!

  1. Congrats on all the progress! :)
Beth's book is in my TBR pile.

  2. I too am planning two books for NaNo, but they're companions so I should probably finish the first one before I start the second.

I wrote a review about Across the Universe. I would suggest reading it but it's soaked with spoilers. XD

  3. Yeah Brooke, I saw that and caught a spoiler or two :P I'll read it later, properly, once I'm done with the book.

Karen - thanks! and as for the book, I'm really enjoying it so far. :)

  4. Awesome progress and cool award! I'm blown away by your NaNoWriMon 2011 goal, and can't wait to see you complete it~ way to stay organized and motivated :)

  5. Two NaNo novels is a pretty lofty goal. I might have to think about trying it with you...

  6. Good luck with your goals, and congrats on your progress (and your awards!)

  7. Guys, last year I saw people reach 50k in less than 24 hours. LOL. If they can do that, I can easily do this. or so I'm telling myself!

  8. Wow, you are CRUISING!!! What an impressive set of goals, I'm blown away by the 2 books during NaNo :O Awesome! Can't wait to hear how you do :)

  9. Cheers Rach, I guess time will tell if I actually manage it. But it's worth a shot!

  10. Wow... I had to read this twice:
Last year, I hit 50k by day 6...

Just... wow. And people wrote 50k words in 24 hours? That is INSANE! I would struggle to complete 50k in the allotted month!

Good luck with all your goals!

  11. Thanks Sari! And yeah, I was pretty puzzled by the 50k in one day thing - but they obviously didn't sleep for 24 hours :P Even doing that, I don't think I could've achieved what they did. ;)

People were accusing them of cheating, etc., but that's just dumb - why BOTHER cheating with something like that?

  12. Sounds like you are on top of things. Congrats on finishing the challenge! Feels good, eh?

  13. Yay goals. Good luck on them. I have some too. Let's hope life doesn't get in the way.

Congrads on the awards. You deserve them. :-)

  14. Woo-hoo! Go you, working on your goals--awesome!

  15. @Bess - yes, it feels very good. Not that I've had much good rest since finishing ;) Doesn't feel like it anyway!

@Robyn - thanks!! Yes, that pesky life thing often thwarts the best laid plans doesn't it? gah!

    @LB - cheers, thanks!:)

  16. COngrats on all your accomplishments! The award is very much deserved. :)

  17. Congrats on taking care of so many of your goals. You are an inspiration!

  18. Congrats on the award. Let us know how you like Beth's book.

  19. 2 books during NaNo???? O.O wow... I can't wait!
You're the second blogger I find to be doing a review of 2011 goals. I should probably do one sometime soon.
I think you're doing awesome by the way. :)

  20. Good luck completing your goals. You seem to be doing everything right to get there. Enjoy Across the Universe - I did!

  21. wow, you're a fast writer. Impressive.
    COngrats on your awards :)

  22. @PK - thanks :)

@itssacred - aw thanks, but this year I just feel extremely inspired. well, I felt that way last year too actually ;)

@Chris - thanks, will do once I'm done with the read (over halfway through atm).

@Akoss - yeah, we'll see if I do it ;) As for the A-Z review, it's an official thing again hosted by the hosts of the A-Z :)

@VB - Thank you! and I am enjoying the book so far indeed.

    @Lynda - sometimes I'm fast - if I haven't plotted away all my inspiration at least :D

  23. Good luck with your goals and you've made some great progress here. I will be cheering you on for NaNo from the sidelines. Congratulations on your award too. :)

Thanks for your words, me hearties! and don't forget to leave a link to your blog somewhere I can find it!
