Today is Monday, and for me this particular Monday follows a weekend full of absolutely nothing at all. Well okay, nothing in relation to revisions. Instead, I had a "date" on Friday night, spent most of Saturday adding all my CDs to a "rate your music" website (I have a lot more CDs than I thought, as it turns out!!), then on Sunday I caught up with the girls for snacks, coffee and a movie (we saw Water for Elephants - very cute movie).
So yeah, I'm a slacker. I've really fallen off the revision bandwagon. And oops, I have a Chrysalis story pick to do today. Better get on that... Speaking of Chrysalis, I've slacked off there too. Usually I will get around to every participant's blog and read their stories, but I haven't done that in a couple of weeks. I'm wondering if I burned myself out on all this stuff in general! Hehe.
On another note, my fellow Chrysalis ladies and I are plotting something special for July - relating to JulNoWriMo but not relating to actual novel-writing, more like novel planning. It's going to be open to anyone who wants to participate. The details are not yet entirely figured out, but we'll get there. It'll be nice to have a break from short stories & get onto something different for a month.
I did get one thing done over this weekend though (other than my hair on Saturday) - and that was finishing another book. I read Mother Love, and you can see my (spoiler-riddled) review here. Now I'm onto reading Isobelle Carmody's Cat Dreamer, which is part of The Quentaris Chronicles that various authors write stories for. I'm just past page 50, and so far I like it!
So anyway, that's my current status...and I also haven't read any blogs over the weekend. So I need to get on that. But first thing's first - Chrysalis!
I'll join you in the slacker club. I really need to write and I am just poking around not getting a thing done. And the longer I stare at the computer, the more tired I get and the less likely I will get any writing done. So now I better quit slackalackin! Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteWell, sorry you're in the same boat, and yet...I'm glad I'm not the only one. Hehe. Maybe we can struggle out of the slacking boat together!
ReplyDeleteI think there is a little slacker in all of us....
ReplyDeleteMy writing break started today and it's already feeling wonderful (though now, of course, I'm itching to write). The closest I am coming to writing for the next two weeks is planning for June (so it looks like I"m out for the novel planning challenge).
ReplyDeleteOops, I said June but I meant July. LOL. Gonna have to edit that!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your break Brooke - it's great when you take such a break and get your creative spark back!
Unfortunately, life sometimes requires a little slacking in the writing department, or nothing else will get done. I went out with friends Saturday night too... I figured it would be healthy to hang out with real people and not just the ones in my head!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely part of the slacker group. Sounds like you got a lot of other fun stuff done on the weekend though! I have two tests coming up so not sure how much writing I'm going to get done over the next week.
ReplyDeleteI'm a slacker myself. I wrote a good 300 words, drew a picture, and watched like, 20 hours of TV. I'm so ashamed.
ReplyDeleteI'm a slacker, too. Came up with a great idea but was too stressed about uni work that I had to force it out of my mind. Then when I had time, I was too slack to actually do it :(
ReplyDeleteWOOOO, so many fellow slackers. I mean, aww sorry you guys are suffering from slackivity too. Yeah, that's what I mean.
ReplyDeleteWe need a Slackers' Anonymous group...only now it wouldn't be so anonymous. Hehe
Hi, my name is Michael, and I'm a slacker. ("Hello Michael!") :) I haven't even started editing the novel-projects I wanted to edit this summer. so far the only thing I've accomplished is rewatching the whole first season of Avatar: the Last Airbender. :P
ReplyDelete"Helloooooo Michael!" :P Oh well, you made me feel better with your slacking woes. Yay!! :D
ReplyDeleteSlacker! ;)
ReplyDeleteHehehe, I feel like a slacker since I've been at a Writers' Festival all week. At least I'm back to revisions again. Hope you find your revision groove again soon.
Lynda, that's a great excuse though and technically you WERE doing writing-related activities ;)
ReplyDeleteHey!
ReplyDeleteI noticed you were interested in entering the Power of Tension Blogfest. Just a reminder that the linky tool is live now and once you've posted your entry on your blog you can enter the link on either Rachel Morgan Writes or Cally Jackson Writes. Looking forward to reading your entry!
xx Rach
I got my hair done on Saturday, too! I'm so glad, it really needed it. Good luck with those revisions!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I think we all need a break sometimes, so don't get down on yourself for slacking. You must have needed to mentally process. Enjoy the down time!

Yeah, I ahven't written new words in 5 months. Life takes over sometimes and sometimes you just need a break. When the time comes and you're ready, the words will flow again. ;)
ReplyDelete@Rachel - thanks, yes I need to post my entry today! :)
ReplyDelete@Susan - mine did too, though I don't feel that the lady took enough of my hair off (I generally need to get it thinned out a fair bit...I have a LOT of hair :O). It's better, but not 100% good. :P
@VB - that's what I figured ;) On one hand I was frustrated/disappointed, but on the other I was like "oh well, I did heaps already this year! Having a little break won't hurt!"
@LB - that darn life thing, eh? :D
Well, I slacked off on the weekend. But Monday was a holiday and I actually got stuff done! ah, days off work... :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat work Deniz! :) I tend to get stuff done more when I'm NOT on holidays. weird. lol
ReplyDeleteHi Trisha, it's Jennifer from Write-Brained :)
ReplyDeleteI've been slacking on revisions, too...hoping this summer will be better!
Jennifer, you do have an excuse though :P
ReplyDeleteI've been a slacker all week. On revisions, on planning the next novel and with the dishes. Now another weekend is here and I just want to sit in the sun while we have it. At least I can revise in the sun.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds lovely Kari Marie! I could do that too, I guess...except I'd have to print stuff out. My laptop screen isn't easy to see in sunlight. lol
