It's only natural that I should focus on my home city of Perth for today's A-Z entry. For the letter "F" I focused on Freo (goooo alliteration!), which is closer to where I live, and I shared some photos. This time I will share some photos of the greater Perth area. In spite of all the downsides of living in Perth (most isolated city in the world, 5 pm curfew - just kidding, but seriously, this place is pretty dead), it does have its good points. Its vibrant local music scene, fun house parties (because when the clubs close at 1 am on weekends, what else can you do?) and absolutely beautiful scenery.
One thing I love about Perth is travelling far, far away from it. Then I get to return, and breathe a sigh of relief (except last time I returned, when I breathed a sigh of gross humid air). Perth people tend to travel a fair bit, probably because hardly anyone comes to visit us instead. ;) So we have to do all the travelling. But anyway...without further ado, here are some photos:
Ah, Perth. Never been. But I definitely know what you mean about returning home to it. Same about Sydney. It might've been the hottest day all summer, but to me, there was a breeze. :)
ReplyDeleteI visited Perth once and likened it to a mini Sydney only cleaner ;)
ReplyDeleteStunning pictures. Perth is the next Australian city I'm going to visit! (stayed mostly on the East Coast till now)
ReplyDelete@Nina - yeah, I often think I take Perth for granted too. Never do any touristy stuff till I have visitors :D Then I find myself surprised by how pretty it is here. Then again, when I travelled for months at a time & returned home, the beauty of the place did strike me.
ReplyDelete@Lynda - sounds about right, though I've heard Canberra described as like Perth but smaller. LOL.
@Charlotte - when you visit, let me know - we should get together for a coffee! :D
I've never been over to Perth, but it's good to see another Aussie online :)

Fabulous photos. It's lovely that you love where you live. We've never been to Perth. Maybe one day :O)
ReplyDeleteHi Charmaine, nice to meet ya! :D Will check out your blog.
ReplyDeleteMadeleine - cheers, and if you ever do visit, let me know. ;)
What a beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteClarissa, I think so! Beauty is one thing it has going for it at least ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely! Coming home is one of the best feelings, isn't it? Nothing quite like that physical place. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI like those pictures. I can't believe nobody ever visits you there. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for expanding my geography knowledge today. :)
Looks great, Trisha.
ReplyDeleteWish I was there.
Thanks for sharing!
Cheers
Oooh! Gorgeous shots! I especially love the one with the tree! Wish I could vacation, too! Have fun!

Those shots are lovely. I've never traveled outside the US unless it was on a cruise ship (pathetic). Australia is on the list of places I would LOVE to go.
ReplyDelete@Bess - yep, coming home is awesome esp. after you've spent 2 days in airports :D
ReplyDelete@Akoss - I guess because it's so isolated, people don't bother ;) But it's actually cheaper for people overseas to come here than it is for us to go there!
@Lesley - no worries, glad you enjoyed :)
@Elizabeth - That tree picture was taken at a place not far from where I live, called Manning Park. It's quite beautiful, at least when we've had enough rain to actually make the lake a lake ;)
@Kari Marie - I haven't been on a cruise ship. I'd quite like it I think, though I'm not really into sailing per se :)
OK, let's do! Would love to meet you in person :)
