A-Z blogging challenge "S" - Supernatural...and S music

There are so many awesome bands I could talk about for the letter S. Maybe I'll mention some at the end. For now though, I want to talk about Supernatural, because it's one of my all-time favourite shows, and not just for the incredibly yummy man meat. I think it has some of the most brilliant dialogue of any show out there, and the plotlines are fabulous.

I've only watched up to the end of season 4, and I'm almost done with a re-watch of that. You see, I waited for a long time after the season 5 DVD came out, because the price was at $59.95 for most of that time. I went away in January for a few weeks, and when I got back I was sure the price would be down. Guess what? It was UP - to $79.95 or something ridiculous like that. But then I finally found it online (from the online version of the store selling it for $79.95) for $29.95. So I ordered it online and it finally arrived. But I was in the middle of a rewatch, so I haven't watched it yet.

I don't need to tell anyone much about the show. You can just go to the official site and check it out, if you don't know this stuff already!

Now, to end this entry with some awesome S bands/artists in my CD collection (and these are not all, they are just my supreme favourites):

  • Sade
  • Sam Brown*
  • Screaming Trees
  • Seam
  • Sex Panther*
  • Shihad*
  • Silverchair*
  • Silversun Pickups*
  • Slipknot*
  • The Smashing Pumpkins*
  • Soundgarden*
  • Stabbing Westward
  • Star 69
  • Stone Sour*
  • Stone Temple Pilots
  • Story of the Year
  • Strapping Young Lad
  • Strike the Colours
  • Superette
*I've seen these guys live at least once!

I spent many hours while in high school in CD stores (including second-hand stores of course, where I found a lot of my singles collection - yes, I do have a large collection of singles), browsing through the S section. In fact, it was generally the first place I went to when starting to browse.

  1. Supernatural is AMAZING. Although I still can't watch certain episodes alone at night LOL

  2. Hehe, I can but I make sure all my doors/windows are locked first. Not that that stops the creepies in this show sometimes... *gets paranoid* hehe

  3. I LOVE Supernatural. The dialogue is witty and amazing and it always makes me smile, particularly the new stuff with Cas. Yeah, I think Cas is a total babe.

    Or the old stuff.
    Dean: Bitch.
    Sam: Jerk.

    And all that goodness. (:

  4. LOL it's all good, all the time - for me anyway :D I agree, Cas is cool and sexy. But I really have a 'thing' for Sam :O haha

I want to see Jo come back though ;)

  7. The sad thing is, I haven't watched Supernatural nor have I heard of 75% of these bands. Bad me.

  8. The first five seasons of Supernatural had me absolutely riveted. I thought the part with the gun made by Samuel Holt was incredibly original and then all the backstory with the railways that were formed into a pentagram over this huge area to contain the evil of Hell--wow...just wow. It's an epic urban fantasy.

I also want to know more of what happened with Adam. I really liked the character of the younger brother and I hate how Sam and Dean seem to be okay with allowing their brother to be possessed with Michael in Satan's cage for all eternity. I hope that there is some way he can get out and live a full life because I was sad when he got eaten by ghouls and overjoyed when he got brought back from the dead. Oy...Adam...it's been a yo-yo ride and he's definitely an abused character.

This season has had its up episodes for sure. I loved it when Death restored Sam's soul. However, it's also had a bunch of meaningless episodes almost as if the writers are reaching for storyline to continue on with. I guess we'll have to see how this whole purgatory thing goes but thus far, I've been unimpressed. Another thing...they never shoulda killed Crowley. He was too good too scheming.

  10. I truly enjoy SUPERNATURAL. The dialogue, the relationship between Sam and Dean, and the fun of wondering what will happen next. Have a great weekend, Roland

  12. So what is it about the S-es that had you browse there first in a CD store?

My husband loves Supernatural too (I would have, but it was a little too gory for me), but obviously not for the man meat. LOL!

  13. @Michael - well I haven't seen most season 5, so la la la la can't hear you! :P seriously, I've had a lot of spoilers already thanks to other over-excited friends of mine :P

@Liz - yeah, you guys are ahead of us here in Aus, though I do believe season 6 started on TV here last week or so. I'm not watching it as I haven't even got through season 5 (which I have on dVD!).

@Loki - yeaaaah, it really is yummy isn't it? :D

@VB - basically a lot of my fave bands were in the "S" section, which is why I went straight there to see if I could pick up anything by them that I didn't already have. hehe. As for Supernatural and gore, yes it is quite gory...but hey, at least it's realistic! wait...what? lol

  15. Yeah, Supernatural is a fun show, from what I've seen so far.

I'm starting up a 'Critiquing and Supportive Crusaders' program, where participants in the Second Crusade can find other writers to exchange critiques with or form supportive critiquing circles. If you're interested, come by The Kelworth Files to check it out!
