When I was a kid, there was Voltron.
My brother and I loved it, but we loved the toys more. Like this one:
That guy actually came apart and the lions were their own separate creatures (yes, I remember that from the cartoon itself). Incidentally, I don't remember much more about the show itself. Blasphemous, no?! But I do know we watched the show religiously, and had the toys.
Of course, I wound up using the lions in other games, namely as Barbie's "pets".
Yeah...
I hear it's being made into a movie!? I don't even know if it has happened yet. That's how "up" I am on my childhood favourites and their current status in society. Of course, if there was a Jem and the Holograms movie rumour, I'd be scouring the internet for more information!
oh yeah, I'd forgotten all about Voltron. I used to love that show. Although, like you I remember loving it, but little else about it. Hahaha.
ReplyDeleteIt's like that cartoon "Cities of Gold" - I knew I loved it, but I had to buy it on DVD to remember what it was about. hehe
ReplyDeleteSounds like transformers!!???
ReplyDeleteI remember watching them with all heart as a kid!! Though I didn't bother about the toys much!!
with warm regards

A Jem movie would be TRULY OUTRAGEOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it though, Carrie?! ;) I'd be there in a Flash'n'Sizzle! hehehe
ReplyDeleteThe name sounds familiar but I don't remember the programme. They look really cool, though!
ReplyDeleteEllie Garratt
Let's go Voltron force!
ReplyDeleteI had the Voltron where you could put the action figures inside the lions.
Cool toy, though I never heard of it cause it's long after my time.
ReplyDelete@Ellie - I'd say IT WAS AWESOME, but I can't remember it so... ;)
ReplyDelete@Dan, that quote sounds familiar :D and I don't know if ours did that, probably not. ;)
@Bish - you baby you! :P
I'm pretty sure there's a Japanese Voltron movie... if not, there should be lol.
ReplyDelete*snort* I never saw the show (I think I'm too old) but that has to be blasphemous--using Defender of the Universe parts as Barbie pets... teehee
ReplyDeleteAh I think that was more my younger brother's era. :O)
ReplyDelete@Lori - agreed! ;)
ReplyDelete@Hart - yeah, but Barbie needed pets! LOL
@Madeleine - it was a good era. Yes, I'm biased. hehe
I remember Voltron (and Jem, of course!), but I don't remember the difference between Voltron and Transformers. In my defense, it was quite a long time ago. Did you ever watch Thundercats?
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the rest of the A to Z Challenge!
Shannon, I too was confused between Voltron and Transformers :D I believe we watched both. And I remember the Transformers theme song better!
ReplyDeleteI believe we did watch Thundercats too, but I can't be sure ;)
The movie I'm waiting for is Captain Planet and the Planeteers. Anyone remember that show? Plenty of scope for cheesiness!
ReplyDeleteHAHA, oh YES Charlotte - we watched that one too ;) It was pretty daggy but we still loved it.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I loved this, I remember. What had me most hooked about it was the love story in it! Can't stay away from love!
ReplyDelete♥.•*¨Elizabeth¨*•.♥
Love story?!?! Maybe I should revisit Voltron for realz :D
ReplyDeleteYou...YOU...YOU ARE A VOLTRON FAN??????? *squeee*
ReplyDeleteI got some episodes on dvd and still watch it. Yikes. And don't mention CITIES of GOLD or Captain Planet or... Oh my God, I'm hyperventilating.
Hehe, well mostly I was a fan, but I need to re-watch it to refresh my memory :D
ReplyDeleteCities of Gold was probably my favourite, other than Jem ;)
