On Saturday night I broke my iPod Touch. Well, I didn't, but I think somebody must've stepped on it. Or perhaps a stool leg got rested on it and somebody then sat on the stool. It still plays, thankfully, but it has one of those big spider-web cracks on it. I've seen other people with such damage to their iPods/iPhones, but I always thought, "Ha, that will NEVER happen to me because I am CAREFUL!" On Saturday night, I was proven a liar!
As for iPhones, I don't have one and, guess what? I don't really want one. Ooh, blasphemy? I guess. But I have a phone, and I know how to use it, and sure I still miss my old Nokia that got stolen (bastards!!), but this phone'll do. I love my iPod, but I don't really need to use it for anything except music. And to think I'm a librarian, we of the Web 2.0 frenzy! Oh well, I'm a traitor to my kind...
Now, when I say iBands, that isn't actually any kind of gadget. I'm talking about bands that start with the letter I. Here are some of those I have in my iPod right now:
- I Can't Believe It's Not Rock - made up of Daniel Johns (Silverchair) and Paul Mac, this group brought out an EP and I think that's it.
Songs of note: "Rain", "Home" - I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness - I believe these guys only have one album so far, but I love what they've done.
Songs of note: "According To Plan", "Lights", "The Owl" - Icehouse - classic Aussie band from the 80s, rather iconic really.
Songs of note: "Great Southern Land", "Man of Colours", "Electric Blue" - Incubus - I have one of their albums, and it has some good stuff.
Songs of note: "Mexico", "Wish You Were Here", "Echo" - Incursion - there are a few bands called Incursion, but this one was a little-known Aussie grunge rock band from the 90s.
Songs of note: "Afterglow", "Ever-Ready", "Head Spins", "Monster" - Interpol - man I love these guys! They make such beautiful music, and the guy's voice is very addictive.
Songs of note: "NYC", "Obstacle 1", "Untitled" - Iron Maiden - I saw these guys recently and Bruce Dickinson's voice is still amazing!
Songs of note: "Flight of Icarus", "Hallowed Be Thy Name", "The Number of the Beast"
And that's all the I I've got in me right now. ;)
P.S. Following up from my previous blog entry, draft #3 is officially done!
You're posting early today. Usually I don't see your posts until about 10 and right now it's about 7:30. XD
ReplyDeleteI broke my iPod about a week ago, too. It still plays though. I ended up throwing it on the cement. If it was face up, it probably wouldn't have broke. Hooray for cracked iPods! I've never heard about any of these bands, but I'll have to check them out.
ReplyDeleteBrooke - yeah, other times I haven't thought of an idea till a bit later. Hehe. Today I got on it right away, though the original topic I thought of isn't the one I wrote about :P
ReplyDeleteMadeline - wow, we can be broken iPod friends! LOL. my iPod was in a bag, and got broken while it was in that. ;)
Glad your iTouch isn't broken. I love mine.
ReplyDeleteI'm not interested in getting an iPhone either. But my husband is dying for one.
Yay, Icehouse! I remember Electric Blue being a big hit in NZ when I was a tween (back when no one knew the word "tween"). Wow, lately your blog posts have been my personal blasts from the past :)
ReplyDeleteTheresa, glad I'm not the only one perfectly happy with just her iPod :D
ReplyDeleteCharlotte, Icehouse definitely take me back to my younger years too ;) I'm a happy child of the 80s. Woo!
Will have to check out I Can't Believe It's Not Rock; Daniel Johns was my teenage crush!
ReplyDeleteAngeline - me too! :D He's a year older than me, so in high school we were all like OMG DANIEL IS SO HOT! ;) He still is, actually. lol. he's a little bit weird, but still very very hot.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad yours iTouch didn't break! I've heard you can have the cracked screen replaced and it doesn't cost too much. Check around (not at the Apple store) for places that do that. I have to admit I love my iPhone though.
ReplyDeletePS. I love the name I love you but I've chosen darkness.
Congrats on finishing draft #3. I ruined my last cell phone by forgetting to take it out of the pocket of my coat before I washed it. Electronics and water do not mix.
ReplyDeleteNo i-anything here. I've had the same cellphone for so long I don't know how old it is. It works just fine. And congrats on finishing your third draft!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip Kari Marie - I'll have to check out some stores.
ReplyDeleteAngela - thanks! And I hate it when we do stuff like that. I dropped a phone in a pool once. But maybe I secretly meant to - I hated that phone anyway ;)
Bish - often the older technology works better!! funny eh?
I broke my Itouch too, the front has two cracks. It still works but...
ReplyDelete: (
I feel really lame--I don't know any of those bands except for Incubus :)
ReplyDeleteI have an iPhone and I am counting contract days, so I can give it to my son and go back to my easy, use for phone calls only little green flippy phone. This iPhone just does too many things.
ReplyDeleteI don't own an iPod so I can't break it. That's the best way to keep it safe, LOL
ReplyDeleteI do have a smartphone -- if it's so smart why do I have to figure it out. It should know what I want to do.
Interesting music recommendations. I will make sure to check them out.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the iPod getting a spiderweb crack. :(
@Samantha - it's disappointing isn't it?? But i'd be more disappointed if it didn't work anymore. hehe
ReplyDelete@Jess - we can all feel lame at times, there are heaps of bands I don't know yet. LOL. Guess that goes without saying... :P No one can know all the music in the world right? :D
@Ann - it's like a mini-computer...but I already have 2 computers I use each day. Don't need another ;) Besides, I'm pretty sure i can't write my novels on an iPhone :D
@GigglesandGuns - haha, good point! "Smart" by ass! lol
@Deirdra - thank you so much! :) I really appreciate it.
@Akoss - there were more bands starting with I on my iPod, but these were the ones I chose to feature. :) There is a bit of variety up above.
I live in fear that I will hurt my iPod. I don't have a touch, but I love my iPod so much that it would break my heart to damage it. I cried when I got scratches on the screen. :( Sorry to hear about yours, but I'm glad it stills works.
ReplyDeleteRosie
East for Green Eyes
It was pretty sad Rosie...but I figure since I got this one for free it's not quite as painful as if i'd had to pay for it :D
