A-Z '13 - Jerks of Attention

First off, sorry about the 2nd video in the previous post not working! How sucky! I do recommend that you try to hunt down a copy of that song to listen to, though, 'cause it is totally rockin'! Or maybe you prefer to just re-watch the classic movie it's from. ;)

During April I and almost 2000 other bloggers are participating in the A-to-Z blogging challenge of 2013. My theme for 2013 is an A-to-Z list of classic Aussie tunes - either classic or just plain songs I like. We're all the way to "J" today, and I've chosen:

Jerks of Attention - Jebediah

Jebediah are a band from my hometown who made it quite big within Australia, starting in the 90s. Their first single was "Jerks of Attention" which became, I think, a bit of an anthem for the youth of the day. When I listen today it still makes me grin and want to get up and dance around like a nutter. I own the CD single and it has a couple of great b-sides on it too. ;) Just FYI, Jebediah's front-man Kevin is better known these days as Bob Evans, but the Jebs are still in existence.

  1. How cool is it that they were from your hometown? The only thing my hometown ever produced was the inventor of volleyball.

  2. Wonderful! But you describe yourself as a singer/songwriter. Is there somewhere I can hear your music??

  5. Wow, awesome song! I'm going to have to dig through your earlier posts on Australian music. I don't know why, but there are so very few Australian bands that actually get airtime in the US, which is a shame.

  6. I'll have to share this with my son's band, Infectious. That theme song is the way to break out.

  8. I've never heard this one. Funny how those songs from our youth make us act like teenagers again.

  12. I used to play a game where you had to list a band for every letter of the alphabet and see who could get the furthest. J was always a hard letter.

  15. How great that you can lay claim to someone from your town? The best thing that ever came out of my town was an empty bus.

  20. My favourite Jebediah song!
The B-Side version is better than the album version too, faster I think.

Saw these guys on my birthday a few years back. They were going to tour soon for a new album, but this show was a tour just to get out and play some music and have fun, so they played all the favourites.
