A-Z '13 - Ken Carter

During April a bunch of us are participating in the A-to-Z blogging challenge of 2013. My theme this year is an A-to-Z list of classic Aussie tunes - either classic or just plain songs I like. Today for the letter "K" I've chosen:

Ken Carter - Ammonia

Ammonia are (or rather, were) yet another band that hailed originally from my hometown, though I know at least Dave Johnstone now resides in Melbourne. I created a MySpace page for Ammonia back in the 2000s, and was surprised when Dave himself contacted me to thank me, give me his blessing to continue, and pass on some rare b-sides for the page. ;) Ammonia broke up in 1997, and I saw them on their last tour, a Big Day Out festival tour. They're still one of my favourite bands today.

  1. My children love Australia and have visited there twice in the past three years. I'm not familiar with these bands.

  2. Hi, Trish,

You really know your bands.... It's so cool that you are so involved in the music from your hometown and underlying area.

I've never been much for bands, but I do have an appreciation for them especially melding so much talent to create their original sound.

  17. I like this one a lot...and I love your A to Z theme!

The sound reminds me of some of the alternative bands I used to follow back in the 90's.

Too bad these guys never hit bigger....

  18. You really do love music! I think it is uber cool that one of the band members contacted you and contributed to the page you founded. That had to be encouraging. Rock on.

  19. Mint 400 is still one of my favourite albums. I possibly saw them at a BDO, but it's all a bit hazy now. Definitely checking out the MySpace page!

<3 Khe Sanh & Kong Foo Sing.
The Weddos Knockbacks in Halifax is also one of my favourite K songs.
