This month I've been writing two novels, both of which were started from scratch as part of NaNo 2011. The first novel, DANNA, is a YA paranormal and will probably be finished a lot more easily than the second, VICTORIOUS, which is sci-fantasy. Not sure on the acceptable word counts for sci-fantasy novels, but considering the 'fantasy' aspect I figure they're expected to at least be longer than 50k? hehe
Now...a word count update: last night's session got me to 94,666 across both novels. 5,334 words to go until I hit 100k. It doesn't feel like a huge deal, because I've done it before, and easily. But this year has felt especially like a hard slog, for reasons I don't quite get. Perhaps the challenge was actually planning on 100k, instead of just 'accidentally' ending up with it? (Remember, I'm a notorious pantser!)
Well, "last night" is still happening for me and I'm hoping to get that far! I have 4 hours and 20 minutes and just passed 90k.
ReplyDeleteYou're doing awesome, Trisha! I did 60k in two weeks. I wish I had lined up another novel to write because I'd probably be where you are. But this is my first NaNo and I have now learned that it's good to be ready with more than one story.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on nearing 100k!
Go you!! You are just too awesome!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should take December off and kick back a little.
ReplyDeleteThose numbers are INCREDIBLE!! Seriously amazing! You go, girl!
ReplyDelete@E.R., the first novel was planned a fair while before the second, but the second was one I was more excited about. So I decided to attempt them both for NaNo.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone...
@Dan - considering taking Dec off, but I think it shouldn't be too hard to do my "preliminary" edit of last year's NaNo. Don't have to do anything serious with it...just read it & get ideas for what to revise.
Yay ! You are absolutely amazing! Good luck on the home stretch and make sure that you have a special bottle of vino in the fridge to celebrate with!

Oh. My. God. You are a human laptop! I wish I could crank it out as fast. And that photo? I want to be there. Now. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove the 'human laptop' comment! I wish I was even halfway to where you are! Great job.

Yay! Didn't realize you'd done 100k before. I bow down to your superior word count!
ReplyDeleteAs of last night's writing I'm somewhere around 93k. It's Tuesday at noon here, still two days, one crisis, one huge battle scene, and a denouement to go. See you on the other side!
Wow! You've done such an awesome job with NaNo. :)
ReplyDeleteI've fallen behind, but I will still finish novel two in less than a month, so that'll be good. Novel one is finished, except for editing, of course. There's always editing, isn't there?
@Cherie, you've still won!! Good job :)
ReplyDelete@Elizabeth - awesome, good luck with the last few thousand!
Thanks everyone else :)
Wow! You've done amazing! I am really in awe of you as I will not be completing NaNo this year and screeched to a halt at around 35,000 words. Great job!
