I am exhausted today. I think I probably got 5 hours sleep last night, and that is never enough for the likes of me. My NaNo word count is 70,912. Last night I got to about 2 words past my nightly goal and was very tempted to just leave it at that. I did end up adding a few more words before calling it a night. I'm up to a scene that interests me, which makes me wonder about the scenes I just wrote and whether they're total crap or not. I have definitely been padding with unnecessary words, just to get myself to the next point in the story...while making my word count goals.
Anyway, hope everyone else is going well with their goals! Bring on December I say!!
You're headed down the home-stretch now. One last literary sprint and you'll be through the finish line!
ReplyDeleteYAY for 70 thou :D
ReplyDeleteNice :D
I'm at 50, so I made goal, but I'm really putting in some thinking time before I finish the book.
I just got to 65k so I've made some definite progress toward catching up. I've figured that if I write 3,626 words for the next ten days I should still finish on time. With five free days from school and no traveling, I may even finish a little early! Especially if I get to my word goal today. That'll mean if I write a little less than 7k for those five days I'll be done. Hard, but manageable.
ReplyDeleteHang in there. You don't have that much farther to go.
ReplyDeleteYou're doing awesome! I started over a week late, so I'm only at 56k. I hope to be where you are soon, as I'm nearly finished! YAY!
ReplyDeleteGet some rest!
Overachiever, look out! Congrats on the fabulous word count :)
ReplyDeleteEveryone here is doing really well, so I wouldn't say I'm the only overachiever. hehe.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
You're doing awesome with your word counts. Mine have slowed to a steady crawl and I can't even bring myself to pad the word counts.
ReplyDeleteHope the editing process isn't too grueling. I can't always go back and rip up things after I've gotten a bunch poured out (which is why I edit as I go). :) Keep going though! Only a few more days!!
ReplyDeletewow!! that is an impressive count of words!! May god be with you!!

ReplyDeleteLxxx
My eye has been twitching for the past two days. I just know it's lack of sleep. But I'm all caught up with NaNo!
ReplyDeleteWord padding... that's the way to write NaNo! I've been there and done that. :)
ReplyDelete70K?! You rock. Never fear the word padding--that's what editing is for. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all of you Nanos! I'm ready for December also! ; )
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and congrats on Nano. I never managed to participate yet.
ReplyDeleteWell done for being so committed Trish, I think when participating in NanoWriMo its okay to paddle words, one of the points of doing it, as I understand it, is to get a fluidity going in the writing experience, not all pieces needing to make sense either. When this is all over and if you want to make a novel out of this, it'll be alright to get rid of them, like any good initial draft, you can edit at your leisure and even get rid of whole scenes. In the meantime, they are useful, for they can lead to other stuff that you might not otherwise think about and fine tuning your work should always come later, again and again and again - my writing professor told me that there should be at least ten drafts before it becomes good enough, up to a hundred even and maybe not even then! God forbid!
ReplyDeleteI can just see you too, I wasn't doing NanoWriMo but nonetheless writing all hours God sent for something else, every day for the last three weeks. There is a little skeleton of a dog I forgot I had sitting underneath my desk. LOL. You'll take a week off to recuperate, but yes, sitting writing like this really can be detrimental to our health, body and mind. But it's great isn't it? Good luck with it.
