Gone But Not Forgotten Blogfest

Yep, that's right! Today is the Gone But Not Forgotten Blogfest, hosted by Alicia, Holly, Pam and Quinta and Erinn. What we have to do for this blogfest is list our top 5 TV shows no longer making new episodes. And without further ado, here are mine:

MediumOkay, so I haven't even seen this entire show yet, but I've heard it's going to end, and THAT SUCKS!! It's one of my favourite shows of all time, and I'm going to miss it. Lots and lots.
FireflyOH. MY GOD. What were they THINKING, cutting this so soon?!?! I don't know what else I can say except...dumbest move everrrrr! This was one of those shows that, I guess, never lasted long enough to get crappy. But still, I doubt it would have. It was and is perfect. Except it's incomplete!
AngelI wasn't a huge fan of where this show was going, and that considered, the ending was pretty cool. It could have been a lot more disappointing I think. And yet that ending REALLY left me hanging. I guess that's a good way to end, though - by leaving it to our imaginations. Still, I miss this show. It was SO CUTE in the beginning.
Jem and the HologramsClassic kids' cartoon, and I still wish it was going. But then, I shudder to think what they'd be doing to it nowadays. ;)
Fast ForwardBrilliance in Aussie comedy - Full Frontal was never as good as the original. I'm sad that there's nothing around quite like this anymore. But at least we can get it on DVD!

Ahhhh, yes, it's fun to reminisce, even if I have to lament their demise to do so!

  2. I'll agree with you on Firefly, and yes, I had me some Jem and Aja (?) dolls from Jem and the Holograms. It is scary to think what they would do with that show nowadays . . .

  3. You've got a couple of shows that I am not familiar with -- Off to see if I can find them on On Demand

  5. Mary Mary, I had those dolls too - still do actually :D They're pretty mangy nowadays. lol. You can still buy new dolls, in their packages, on e-bay. For a FAIR bit of money. :O

Michael, Firefly is definitely the obvious item to have on this list. :D

  6. FIREFLY! FIREFLY! FIREFLY! Dumbest move ever made by execs. :) I know all but one show on your list and miss them all, but Firefly will always be my fave show.

  8. I've seen Firefly on a couple lists now. And Jem and the Holograms? THAT sounds entertaining!!

  9. I'm slightly embarassed to say the only one of these shows I ever watched was Jem and the Holograms.

  10. Dan, that's pretty funny. :D But you don't need to be embarrassed! hehe

I saw on nindogs's entry that she had mentioned Gilmore Girls and Dark Angel - two of my all-time faves. IF I hadn't FORGOTTEN about it (even though I have it on DVD and everything), I would totally have had Dark Angel on this list instead of one of those above.

    Jess, high five!! ;)

Nicole, yeah Firefly is AWESOME, if you didn't know already.

  12. Did you ever watch Serenity? It's a movie that was supposed to finish the Firefly series. It gives you a sense of completion, but I didn't like it because it was disturbing. Also they had to cram so much info into it that they didn't have time for humor or character development.

  13. Teralyn, yeah I have watched it and I actually did love it, but it didn't satisfy me...if ya know what I mean. LOL. I guess I wanted the whole Mal/Inara thing resolved once and for all ;)

There could have been so much more to this story than what we got. It makes me sad every time I think about it!!

  14. Okay, seriously, the Jem thing cracked me up!!

None of these shows were ones I watched, surprisingly. But I still find myself mourning the loss of Dawson's Creek. That show owned my heart.

  15. I only know two of these, but as I love those, I suspect I'd like the others, too. I also know for a fact I prefer Aussie humour to American. I didn't have any comedies on my list, but were I more familiar with Aussie (or British) shows, that might change.

  16. Firefly is creeping up all over the place!! Jem and the Holograms sounds interesting, never heard of it

  17. Whedon rules!
I loved Angel in the beginning when it was just Angel, Cordy and Doyle.
    Great list.

  18. Jem is truly outrageous, truly truly truly outrageous... Jem is my name, no one else is the same. Jem is my name!!!
I am a fan. LOVED that show. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

  19. I liked Buffy but I never jumped on the Angel bandwagon, not sure why...

  20. I love that you included Jem on your list :)

  21. Jem!! I loved that as a kid. Used to wish I had Kimberly's gorgeous red hair!

  22. J.C., I was always sad that I never got a Kimber doll ;) I had Jem, Aja, Shana and Erica. Also had none of the Misfits, or the other secondary characters - damn!! lol. My bro got a Rio doll. so cute. hehe

It's cool to see so many Jem fans here! :D

And yes, she IS truly outrageous. I still have my Jem tapes somewhere. as in the song tapes you got with each doll.

  23. People keep mentioning Firefly. I'm going to have to check it out. I remember Jem's cartoon. I never got into Angel, but I've added it to the Netflix list.

  24. Wow, Jem. I barely remember that, but I loved Angel. At least they were able to wrap everything up (well, in a way).

  25. JEM! I didn't even think to go back that far!

I would add THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS to my list, then. :)

    Bravo!

  26. Firefly is a must! ;)

Kari, I loved Buffy but I kind of loved Angel more (at least the first couple of seasons; the later ones were good, even if I hated where they took Cordelia, but not as special as the early ones).

Marie, yeah they did in a way...but I never liked what happened to Cordy.

Ricki, yeah Jem is one of those shows that I'm always harking back to in my mind at least. :D

  27. Yeah, Medium ended a few months ago. It seemed right though. It was really going nowhere, as far as major arcing plot goes. I still watched it though.

It's been so long since I've watched Angel again. I have to do another Buffy/Angel rewatch soon.
