Day 7 of the A-to-Z challenge is here, and the letter of the day is "G". I was torn between two beloved themes today - my other option that I almost went with was graffiti art. But I opted instead to share some photos from a quirky little place in Australia's south-west.
Gnomes(ville)
I enjoy having little sculptures in the garden. My mother didn't, however. But one day there was a gnome in the front flower bed. We have no idea how it got there.
ReplyDelete~Visiting from AtoZ
We didn't have any gnomes growing up in Dublin (they'd always be stolen!) but I think my three boys will get a kick if a gnome suddenly appears one day :)
ReplyDeleteGnomesville sounds cool. I love the last two photos the best, but they are all rather haunting--in a good way!
ReplyDeleteIt's a crazy little place - I was constantly laughing while walking around it. I believe it got flooded out a few years back, but it may be back up & running now!
DeleteGary and Penny would really like those gnomes. So would Heather Gardner.
ReplyDeleteVery cool gnomes. I have a bunny and turtle in my garden, but I want gnomes... and a gargoyle!
ReplyDeleteGnomes are awesome! I love the first one. She's so pretty! I'm just starting a garden at my new house so I'll have to get a gnome. :)
ReplyDeleteWe live an hour or so from Amish country, so when my son was little, he thought they were gnomes. Cute until you run into one in public and your kid yells, "Look Mom, a gnome!"
ReplyDeleteHaha, oh dear! ;) Kids say the darndest things, don't they?
DeleteI was actually going to watch 'Gnomeo + Juliet' for my G movie, but I didn't...
ReplyDeleteBut maybe I'll go back and watch it anyways. You've inspired me with these cute pictures. :) Gnomesville...such a strange concept.
The Snow White set is the cutest gnomes I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteScribbles From Jenn - Visiting from the A to Z Challenge
We have one gnome outside but I intend to get a few more this summer. Can't decide whether to go cute or creepy.
ReplyDeleteI normally like stone figures, but if their paint starts chipping something bothers me. I did like that first Snow While one however.
ReplyDeleteI kind of like that 'chipped' effect. Makes them more vintage, like something dug up in an ancient garden. ;)
DeleteGnomes have always creeped me out just a little bit. Way more off the wall than Graffiti though, I commend that!
ReplyDeleteYes! They are totally creepy. I think that's why they amuse me. But I don't have any gnomes of my own, and probably never will.
DeleteAre they looking at me??? I'm gonna run now
ReplyDeleteHi Trisha .. what a fun little unique place to have to visit .. I hope it's recovered from being flooded. Cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI love those even the creepy ones. Maybe not the one with blusher that looks more like blood ;)
ReplyDeleteI find gnomes kind of creepy (dolls too) and you have some wonderfully creepy pictures here. Especially the Snow White one (with a missing eye) and the green-covered gnome-thing. Awesome hehe. Gnomesville sounds/looks like a special kind of torment. ;)
ReplyDeleteThey are kinda cute... it depends...
ReplyDeleteGnomesville? Sounds like it could be the title of a horror story. *shivers*
Hi Trisha,
ReplyDeleteHilary alerted me to your post. Indeed, as Alex stated, Heather and my shy, humble self, have a great affection for gnomes and in my case, the wee folks that used to live in my enchanted garden.
Strewth, I would love to go to "Gnomesville." Considering my magical creatures have gone to "Gnome", Alaska, I reckon a trip to Australia is super magical.
Happy alphabetting!
Gary
