How I'm tracking in July

I figured it's time for a goal update! Last time I updated, I was approximately halfway through July's goals, or possibly less than halfway. Now here is where I'm at:

So far in July, I've:

  • reviewed three songs with previously completed vox and sent them to Billy in raw format for him to mix for the album - one of them I added some harmonies to;
  • recorded vocals for one of the new songs, titled "The Shade of My Day", and sent an .mp3 version to Billy for approval or ... disapproval ;) - update - Billy approved it and I sent the raw files through;
  • got halfway through recording rough vocals for an 8-minute track, then later finished it off and sent it in .mp3 format to Billy for dis/approval - update - after recording some additional vocal harmonies at Billy's request, I then sent the file back ... and it's now approved! :).

So now all I have left to do in July is:
  • send the raw files for "Your Love Won't Change" to Billy ;
  • go back to the song I've been avoiding for months now, which I have to record new vocals (to new lyrics and, I believe, an entirely new melody) for, and ... do it!!

There are in fact two options for melodies for that last song, so I have to figure out which one I should go with. I hope to get some of this done today, but I had a family event on earlier, and later on a friend is visiting. So, we'll see how I go ...

How are your Julys coming along?

  1. Trisha, that is awesome. You let us know when that album is available so we can get it. Very much like to hear you sing.

  2. I can't carry a tune in a bucket, so I am so impressed with how multi-talented you are!

  3. It sounds like creating music is infinitely more involved than creating a book!

    1. Yeah, it's pretty time-consuming. But I don't know that it's more so than creating a book up to its final polished version.

      I don't really do most of the work, though - that is down to my bandmate! He does all the music, and I just put vocals on. Though when it's my music we're working on, I do actually create the song and lyrics.

  5. You're amazing! July is going by awfully quickly. I haven't done too much this month. It'll be busier next month too!

    1. It is sort of flying by, isn't it? Scary!!

      I hope you have a great end of July & an even greater August.

  6. Oh man! I know that feeling--when you've got competing melodies and you love them both but have to pick one. So hard. That's when I stick the other one in a folder for "one day."

    1. So true!

      Most of the time when I go with a melody, it's just the first one that came into my head. But this time neither of the melodies were my ideas, so it's especially hard to pick when you're working on someone else's song. :)

    1. I finished the last song on Tuesday night this week, but it's still just a first take. But it was a good feeling anyway. ;)
