Paper edit a go-go
I did it! Firstly, I finished my revision, and second I printed out SUNDOWN (all 188 pages) for a paper edit. This is my 4th draft, and so I'll be working on the 5th with this next round of edits. For interest's sakes, I'll say that draft #3 had 180 pages. So I've added 8 pages (A4, size 12 Times font - as opposed to Times New Roman - and single-spaced) since then. This needs to shrink again, because I currently have a word count of 101,459 (this will shrink when I check it in Word, as Scrivener has a higher word count than Word does, but still it's too high!). My goal is 95k or thereabouts, as it was during my last edit also. I did get there with draft #3, but my latest revision added some new content.
In other news, for some reason I took it for granted that (at least here in Aus!) everyone knows about the goodness that is peanut butter and honey on toast. Apparently though, it's not as common as I thought. I've had a few people lately telling me they've never tried it.
Anyway, that's it for today. I've read and commented on a few blogs already today, but I'm going to head out and read some more! Hope everyone is doing well.

Awesome! Congrats on the wonderful progress!! :D
ReplyDeleteI LOVE peanut butter and honey on toast! But yes, I grew up in Aus, and even just going to NZ people look at me funny when I say how yumm it is.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your paper revision!
@Griffinclaw - thank you! and thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDelete@Sari - I'm sooooo glad I'm not the only one who knows what it's all about! hehe
Congrats on the progress!! Looks like you have this well thought out, as well. WRITE ON!
ReplyDeleteBest-
We've got no peanut butter (allergies at our house) but I've done sunbutter and honey and I love it!
ReplyDeleteMy family does peanut butter and honey on toast all the time. When I was a kid I preferred pb and honey to pb and jelly. I've lived in Washington State all my life.
ReplyDeleteBut then, my family also won't eat spaghetti or lasagna without cottage cheese. We eat eggs with mayonnaise, and we put sour cream on just about everything else.
All of which I thought was normal until I married my husband, who is from Texas, and has never heard of these things.
Keep up the hard work! I am on my final round. I hope. Only 6 complete rewrites for me. It is hard, awful work, but oh so worth it.
ReplyDelete@Bryce - thank you! :)
ReplyDelete@Lydia - never heard of sunbutter. It sounds intriguing though. Gonna have to look it up!
@Christine - yay, another peanut butter & honey-eating family. hehe.
@V - thank you! Congrats on being at your final round. It can be really painful at times, but I agree it's so worth it!
OMGosh! I eat peanut butter and honey on toast ALL the time. I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd good luck in revision hell. I'm putting mine off for a spell. :)
I always have the opposite problem, my word count tends to run low. And I, too, have never tried peanut butter and honey...sounds really odd to me!
ReplyDelete@Pk, it IS good isn't it? I like it with crunchy salt-free peanut butter though... Not a fan of most peanut butter on the market.
ReplyDelete@Christine - that's what I've been told! I recommend you try it though. hehe. I never have it with butter either.
Woohoo, that's awesome! I always get so, so excited when I finally make it to the paper edit stage. Congrats and good luck!
ReplyDeleteI've never even heard of peanut butter and honey on toast as an option, but it sounds divine. I'll have to try it!
Peanut butter and honey on toast is my favorite lazy breakfast.
ReplyDeleteWell done!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm definitely familiar with the greatness of peanut butter, honey and toast. :)
Congratulations on the progress! :)
ReplyDeleteI've never had peanut butter and honey on toast before--but it sounds good.
@Meredith - thank you! and I recommend you try it! hehe
ReplyDelete@Dan - yep, and since I'm lazy EVERY morning, I have it quite often.
@Hektor - pb/h fans unite!!
@Eagle - thank you! and try it, tell me what you think.
Oh! Look at that! You and I are at the same point! I've got 50 pages left to go to enter all the changes from my paper edits and then - I finally finally get to print a clean (no square bracket, no highlight) version of the MS and... *gasp* read the whole thing from start to finish. I'm scared.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling Deniz ;) But it just has to happen!
ReplyDeleteYay, Trisha! Congrats on finishing the revision. Good luck on the next round of edits. So exciting, isn't it?
ReplyDeletePeanut butter and honey is much-loved in this house (except by my 8 year old who certainly doesn't want pb anymore). My 5 year old has a pb and honey and raisin sandwich almost every day for lunch.

@VB - thank you! It is exciting, especially to look back on how much my novel has changed since its rough draft.
ReplyDeletePB&H household! Nice! Not sure I'd be able to handle raisins in mine though... hehe
