Write ... Edit ... Publish ~ NEW BEGINNINGS (Jan.)

It's time yet again for WEP, the monthly hop hosted by Denise at L'Aussie writing. You can check out January's blog list here. And now here is a bit of info about this month's theme:

It's time for the sign-up for our first challenge of 2014 - NEW BEGINNINGS. Whatever comes to mind that expresses NEW BEGINNINGS - you may want to share a true story, a fictional story, post photos that typify NEW BEGINNINGS...whatever you want, it's your choice!

So, with that out of the way, I thought I'd just put up a little list of new beginnings I'm anticipating experiencing this year (and I must admit that I haven't really done much editing of this list, but now that I've written it I'm going to publish it here on my blog):

  • I will begin to be completely student loan free sometime around the middle of this year!
  • I will begin a new travelling phase when I order a new passport at some point, since both of mine have long since expired (I have a British and Australian passport)
  • I will begin to very much enjoy my built-in bookshelves at home - once they've been built in, anyway
  • I will begin yoga again, at some point this year
  • I will begin to drink from a brand new bottle of Bailey's, at some point (I haven't had my beloved Bailey's in quite a while now)
  • I will begin a new life wherein I no longer have the Brothers' Grimm fairytales on my GoodReads "currently reading" list, and,
  • I will begin to read Ursula le Guin's Earthsea series at long last!

I think that will do for now.

P.S. Achieved my first goal from my list - rewriting LOST, MISSING, GONE. Neeeext!

P.P.S. Just finished reading Mina Lobo's THAT FATAL KISS, and loved it.

  1. Hi Trish. I admire the way you carefully consider your goals. I belong to the school of: 'If you aim at nothing, you're sure to hit it!' I wish you every success meeting those considerable goals for the year/future.
I drank a whole bottle of Bailey's whilst travelling. Bought it cheap in Gibraltar and had to finish it before we flew out of Spain. I had to share with Geo to get to the bottom of it, hahahah. Now I plan to attack the one I've got here on the shelf. Makes a refreshing drink on these heatwave days. Erk! Coming back to this after freezing in Europe is a bit harsh!

I've been visiting the Lifeline Bookfest 4 days in a row, so my bookshelves will never cope, but gosh, it's going to be heaps of fun working my way through the booty!

Thanks, as always, for posting for WEP.

    Denise

  7. Ursula le Guin's Earthsea series should be fun to read. My older daughter was an extra (part of the court) when they did a movie for tv based on le Guin's series a few years ago in Vancouver. So, I have a soft spot for that series. A guy I worked with met the author and said she was extremely nice in person.

I like lists, they keep us organized and make me feel like I'm accomplishing something, anything. . .Good luck! I like Bailey's too.

  8. Noble goals. All of them. I've had an item on my currently reading list on goodreads for over two years now. So sad.

Isn't That Fatal Kiss scrumptious? Mina did a wonderful job!

    I'm rooting for you!

    Dear Trisha,
Great list. Thank you for reminding me to make a list of goals and check them off.
Congratulations on soon becoming student-loan-free and for completing your LOST, MISSING, GONE. I've never tasted Baileys; I don't know what it is. I have also read the tales of the Brother's Grimm, but without having it on a reading list.
Hope you will be happy and healthy in 2014!
    Best wishes,
    Anna

  13. Awesome list! And the built in bookcase sounds especially awesome, so does traveling. Also I've always wanted to read Brothers' Grimm Fairytales, so maybe I'll have to start a life where that is on my currently reading list. Hopefully it was a good life. ;)

  14. I'd like to be able to travel more, but my 2 weeks of vacation a year don't go very far. I'm going to Alaska this year, so I'm excited about that. I really need to update my Currently Reading selection, too. I've been reading A Feast for Crows for way too long. Lots to look forward to! :)

  15. LOL; I like the "almost" quality to this. Give yourself some wiggle room while you're working on the list. Brilliant!

Travel is ALWAYS a must and when you get those new passports there will be nothing to stop you from soaring off to a new exotic land...

  23. Almost student loan free? *sigh of relief* Good one Trish... to finally glimpse the "light at the end of that debt-ridden tunnel"...
    Great list.
And I'll join you in a virtual Baileys toast! (We also have an equivalent to Baileys called Cape Velvet)
