Just an ordinary poseur... or a pissed off drag queen? |
In the past, whenever I came across awful pictures of myself (which happens often; I'm not photogenic for the most part), I had a way to make them useful - by colouring them in and making them into 'art' (see the picture on the right):

Killarney, Ireland... or some alien planet? |
I didn't realise until today that sometimes, if you have a really boring, ordinary photo, and have decided to throw it in the trash...it can perhaps be salvaged too! The one on the left, taken in Killarney, Ireland yesterday, is pretty boring when it's up the right way. But upside down it becomes (to me, at least) some kind of magical alien landscape that could inspire all sorts of cool fantasy/sci-fi stories.
What do you think? Got any boring photos you could save by flipping upside down?
So very true! I like it better upside down. :)
ReplyDeleteI just turned my laptop upside down to check out your theory - you're right :-)
ReplyDeletethat's soooo cool - I flipped my laptop too - and what a difference:) You do realise you are causing a global 'computer turning' right now?!
ReplyDeleteBTW are you in england at all, or are you missing it out?
Yes, we are going to be back in England (started in London, then went to Salisbury, Plymouth, Glastonbury and Bath... we're gone now but heading back toward the end). I'll email you about it :)
DeleteAwesome picture. I'll have to try that with some of mine.
ReplyDeleteYes, I did turn my laptop upside down... :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to check some of my pictures. That's a cool idea! I couldn't turn my monitor, but I got the idea by turning my head! I thought right side up was pretty, too, though.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lara - I just think it was a bit too ordinary the other way up. hehe. i never would have thought of flipping it either except I had accidentally saved it upside down.
DeleteLove the upside down effect. It really does look like a weird alien planet!
ReplyDeleteI never thought of that before! I'll have to look through my photo collection and see what I can find!
ReplyDeleteMy dad used to develop black and white photos and color them in with colored pencils. We didn't always appreciate his efforts :)
ReplyDeleteThat picture looks natural upside down. Hmmm, interesting.
.........dhole
I never thought of that! Very interesting idea... I know very little about photo editing, but I love the color you added your self picture :) I should learn how to do stuff like that... one of these days LOL Cuz I have so much extra time :P
ReplyDeleteThe self picture was actually done by hand - with textas. hehe. I don't know how to use Photoshop that well, really ;)
DeleteYou're right! Upside down makes it awesome. I might start doing that to all my photos.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I tried it with a few others that I was going to delete, but...for the most part they were crap both ways up. haha. But it's worth trying before you delete the pic forever!
DeleteI have learned that even a crappy photo can be useful and cropping (or turning them upside down) has made what I thought was "meh" into "oh yeah".
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a good time!!!
