During times when the editing is chugging along pretty slowly, I like to focus on positives like the fact that I am over halfway through. The chapter I have edited on paper, but not yet in Scrivener, starts on page 99, and there are only 180 pages in the book. So there. I'm over halfway!
Another positive is that I'm saving a lot of time on future edits by doing things "properly" this time around. This is definitely the most intensive edit I ever remember doing, because I'm rolling multiple edit rounds into just one round. So there you go - those are some positives.
I don't really have anything "negative" to say, but I will say things are still going pretty slowly.
Just for something else to talk about this post, I thought I'd mention where I'm at with my reading.
I'm 5 books ahead of schedule for the year. In future this year I want to continue to read more of my blogger friends' books. I'm thinking already about next year's reading, as well. I might get stuck into a few epic fantasy series, or just series that I need to re-read, so that I can read for the first time more recent books in those series.
But I know it's a bit early to be worrying about 2015's reads. ;)
What are you reading?
... or writing?
...... or editing?
I can't remember the last time I read a book by someone I didn't know through blogging lol! Right now I'm reading Our Beautiful Child by Annalisa Crawford. :D
ReplyDeleteI have sooo many to read.
DeleteHi Trisha .. I too have many many to read by bloggers and by others .. but better perhaps to have books around than none at all .. glad you're progressing slowly and positively ..
ReplyDeleteI'm doing that too .. now I'm set up with the 'new' machine I can progress .. lots of blog posts to write - but keeps my brain occupied and it's summer, so it's good to get out .. cheers Hilary
Over here it's winter, and I am enjoying snuggling up inside. Which sometimes does make me a bit lazy when it comes to my writing. But I am trying to not be so lazy! :)
DeleteI hope you enjoy your out and about activities, as well as your blog post creation. :)
First to answer your query on the Queen's official birthday c/o my recent post:

You might even want to look a little further in Wiki - a deviation from the cuddling blanket!!
Cheers Hilary
Thanks Hilary - it's interesting stuff. :)
DeleteI've been reading through the Wheel of Time stories, and I'm nearly finished. I just started The Gathering Storm last week. Good stuff. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty epic, isn't it? I re-read it after the last book came out, so I could be all refreshed by the end. It was amazing how much I'd forgotten, since I first started the series in high school. :D
DeleteGood going!
ReplyDeleteEditing: The Heir's Choice (book two in War of Six Crowns series)
Writing: War of Six Crowns book 3.
Reading: Eh... not so much.
Writing and editing at the same time - I don't tend to do that. ;) It's an impressive feat.
DeleteI'm never not reading. It's a compulsion that I have to give in to daily, even if just for a small amount of time before lights out.
Congratulations on passing the halfway point!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alex. It's something to cling to. :)
DeleteThat's a way to look at things! Lol. If only everyone thought positively about everything....imagine all the difference that would make!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I read people's "reading goal" status, I get so embarrassed. I think I've finished two/three so far :/
Well, sometimes you go through periods in your life where reading just isn't a focus.
DeleteI also don't think I'm that fast of a reader - I guess compared to some I am. But compared to others, I am going at a snail's pace! ha.
I agree that positive thinking is very powerful.
Good on you Trisha. I'm reading my usual truckload of books (especially loving another travel memoir by Sarah Ferguson about her time in Tahiti, a place I've never been to), I'm doing re-writes on my Fijian novel after getting it back from an assessor...well, pretty much concentrating on that one. I wrote for 10 hours on Sunday. Longest ever stretch.
ReplyDeleteWow - 10 hours is impressive. Great job, Denise! I haven't put in that volume of effort in a LONG time now. Probably November last year was the closest ... :P
DeleteDon't you just love reading? Silly question, I know, but I love it almost enough to squeal aloud. hehe
Congrats on reaching the halfway mark.
ReplyDeleteYou've done well with your Goodreads challenge. I've only recorded 4 of the 35 books that I've pledged, so it shows that I'm about twelve books behind schedule. However, I have about four books that I haven't counted in, because I need to write reviews for them first.
I'm in outline-mode at the moment...
Well, I guess you're not as far behind as the GR widget might suggest, then. :)
DeleteI look forward to someday being back in outline mode. ha. for now, it's edit, edit and more edit.
Congrats on reaching the halfway point!

Thanks, Gina! :)
DeleteCongrats! You've obviously made great progress. Woo-hoo!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally impressed with your books read! I've been in such a slump but now I can't wait to read Annalisa's latest this weekend.
I look forward to reading Annalisa's latest as well, sometime, but I feel like I should read other bloggers' books that I've had on my kindle for years first. :P
DeleteThanks for stopping by, Julie. :)
Congrats on all of your hard work - editing, writing and reading.
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
DeleteI hope you'll join us for a couple of bloghops coming up. The Coffeehouse is coming up next Friday, of course. There's also a new music one coming up that I think you'd enjoy.
DeleteWell done! You're such a hard worker!!
