I went to the library, and took some photos

I thought I had a blogfest to post for today, but it turns out I got the dates wrong so after I spent like an hour composing this rather 'large' post, I realised I don't have to post it until early September. Ahhh well, at least it's ready to go now! I'm just usually not a "do stuff faaaar in advance" sort of gal.

Anyways, I do have something to talk about. The library. I joined a library at the start of this year, with a view to spending less money on books and still getting to read them. I borrowed three books and read them all within the three-week loan period. Returned them on time, no fines. And then that was it. No more visits to the library. No more books. Hey, I work in a library so I tend to visit one 5 out of every 7 days of the week, but still, no more visits to that other library for free books.

It's now August and I finally made myself go back. There are some Jodi Picoult books that have been on my TBR since 2009 that I have finally borrowed - albeit in large print format, as they're the only ones that aren't checked out to other patrons for months and months at a time with no availability date in sight - and currently I'm reading My Sister's Keeper. Then I saw Mum today and she said, "Remember to ask me if you want any Jodi Picoult books - I've got them all." And I'll bet they're not in large print or quite as dirty and worn as the ones I got from the library.

Now, pictures of my two cats and a recent sky view from out front of my place:

  1. You WORK in a library? Lucky ducky...
I also belong to the local library, but haven't visited in a while. Blame it on Kindle and the e-books that I've been downloading from free e-book sites; oh, and also blame it on the Amazon gift vouchers that I've won over the last few months, which I've used to purchase e-books...
Somewhere deep down inside, I'm still a paper back gal! And I DO feel a wee bit guilty...
And you know what? When it's cold outside, and I want to get stuck in a good book, then I yearn for a good paperback to curl up with... the emphasis being on "curl"...
    Stunning photos Trisha!

  2. Glad you like where you work and borrowing books is great way to save money. The photos are lovely especially the ones with a sky view of her place.

  4. I don't go to the library often. The ones in my area have cut the days and hours so drastically that they're closed when I'm able to go. I do check out ebooks sometimes.

  6. Looove the photos, love the library, and LOVE Picoult's books. I just finished 19 Minutes for the second time. Wow. So many details I missed the first time around.

  7. Great photos. Kitty #2 looks a lot like one of our former tenants.

Libraries - so wonderful and so easily taken for granted. I'm glad to hear you went back.

  9. I have been saying for years I need to join a library to save the money I spend on books...especially since, the older I get, the less time I seem to have to revisit books already read.

I can see both pets have the right amount of "cat-itude."

  10. Lovely photos Trish. Aren't we having a gorgeous winter! Blue skies everywhere. I adore libraries. I work in one too - the State Library of Queenlsland where I tutor. Great venue but you can't borrow books to take home. Have to go across the street to the City Library which is fantastic. I borrow tons. Husb is building more bookshelves for me, but I've got to slow down on the book buying and I just don't get the same kick from e-books.

  11. I'm a sucker for a cool tree, and that tree out your window is fantastic! I also love libraries, though I don't go nearly often enough. I like to own the books I enjoy, so if I like it, I usually end up buying it anyway.

  12. I really should use the library more, there are so many books sitting there just waiting to be read. Plus, if they don't have what you're looking for you can reserve it for a mere 50p. Bargain!

My daughter likes going to the library so it can turn into quite the day out when we get around to going.
