I know, crappy excuse for a Michael Jackson white glove, but it was all I had on hand (no pun intended). It was from a Michael Jackson tribute night my mum and I went to. It was so crap we went back to my place, got my MJ CDs, and headed over to mum's to party on in style. Now that was a tribute! I'm not going to show you the moonwalking videos though.
But none of that was the point of this post. The point was for me to share with you a list of which Groups I joined as part of Rachael Harrie's 3rd Campaign. They are:
- Adult Fiction (All Genres) - group 3
- Contemporary/Mainstream Fiction - group 2
- Science Fiction - group 1
- Romance, (all things) - group 1
- Short Stories
- Australian/New Zealand writers
Think those'll be enough to keep me busy?!
I think the point I'm trying to make is that what you see above is really just the beginning for me. There aren't any genres I've ever sworn off attempting to write. I have interests in many places. My characters are of varying ages, sometimes depending on what age I am myself at a given point. Some of my characters aren't even people. Some of them aren't human. Most of them are. Some are guys, some are gals. Some are dead and some are alive. Some are currently living only in my head, set to be unleashed in the coming months (hello NaNoWriMo 2011!). In short, I never know what's around the corner, and I love it that way!
Hello to all my fellow Campaigners. I'm pleased to meet you. But now it's your turn: what genres do you write?
Don't lie, that pun was definitely intended. LOL. I'm already glad I only signed up to one group, even though I write a bit of this and that and the other. Props to you; you're gonna be one busy woman!
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely brave. I write adult and YA. I've never been good at limiting myself. Maybe because I read nearly everything so I find myself writing that way also. :-)
ReplyDeleteI write romance but I love mixing genres. I'm in your romance group (plus I'm going to try and follow the people in the second group) and the erotic romance group. I didn't want to overwhelm myself on my first go at this :)
ReplyDeleteWell, considering last Campaign I had to follow 300+ people, I don't think this is so bad... hehe.
ReplyDelete@Jes - it wasn't intended, however as soon as I wrote it I was quite pleased with myself. Ha. Yes, I'm lame!
@Dawn - I say why SHOULD we limit ourselves? It's more fun to mix it up!
@Raelyn - nice to meet you! Glad to be in the romance group with you. I understand not wanting to overwhelm yourself - it can be a fair amount of work keeping up with all your fellow Campaigners!
I write fantasy and/or science fiction (although if a story from another genre calls to me, I will write it).
ReplyDeleteI joined one group in the campaign (fantasy group 2), because that's about all I can handle. If we had to follow all the Campaigners, I wouldn't have signed up this go-around.
Hello! Like you, there is nothing I'm unwilling to write, but the things I tend to steer toward are Urban Fantasy and Horror. I'm currently working on a YA post-apocalyptic Fantasy, plus several horror stories.
ReplyDelete@Liz - that certainly was a tough part of the last Crusade! And I'm pretty sure not everyone did their part there. Only the most dedicated Crusaders. Note to self: Campaigner, not Crusader.
ReplyDelete@Shannon - I love those genres! I must admit I haven't really written any wildly successful horror stories. By wildly successful I mean I love them and they're horror(fic). I've done the odd short story I guess. Post-apocalyptic appeals to me for some reason!
I write women's fiction, ya urban fantasy, ya steampunk, adult urban fantasy and romance. I hear you on the multi-genre thing!
ReplyDeleteThe campaign will be tiring, but fun right? And it's a good run-up to Nanowrimo!
LOL Trish about the MJ tribute! Glad it all worked out for you.
ReplyDeleteI write women's fiction, contemporary fiction, romance, and short stories. I agree that we should not limit our genres.
Thanks for the blog visit. Looking forward to getting to know you and hope you enjoy the campaign.
I think it's great when a writer doesn't limit themselves :)
ReplyDeleteI write sensual medieval romance and flirty contemporaries but you know what? I've got a steampunk in my bottom drawer that I pull out every now and then to play with. When it's ready, I hope to get it published and I really hope my publisher isn't going to wag a finger and tell me I'm diversifying too much. It's all part of being creative (or so I tell myself, it could also just be slightly scatterbrained)
Hi Trisha! I followed your comment at the Shade back to you. I write some hybrid of women's fiction/contemp/mainstream...I think. ; ) Well the story is contemporary. Add my moldy-oldy SF and my devotional work and you've got a lot of irons in the fire. See you around
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm in your Contemp group. I think I have written something or have a story idea in nearly every genre, but I always come back "home" to Contemporary. I love to read Fantasy, but I'm crap at writing it. I can't do it with a straight face.
ReplyDeleteLove the glove. Sarah
Heya Trisha, thank you for popping my my blog -we are in both the contemporary/mainstream and short stories group :) I look forward to campaigning with you and likeminded writers/bloggers etc :)
ReplyDeleteYAY! we are in the same short story group. But I am in Mainstream 1 and Romance Historical 2. Looking forward to the Crusade.
ReplyDeleteTrisha, It is so nice to meet you through the Campaign! I think we're going to get along splendidly. I, too, have joined a few different groups because I don't rule out writing varying genres. And I also am looking ahead to NaNo 2011!! Looking forward to campaigning with you! I like how you posted the list of the groups you've joined, as well.
ReplyDeleteI write across genres too, so it was difficult to choose which ones to join in the Campaign. I chose two.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, LOVE the white glove! Fab!
Sigh. I so regret that I'm missing the Campaign. :-( Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI did the campaign earlier and was in YA and non-fiction.
ReplyDeleteHey there.
ReplyDeleteI write women's fiction and I'm totally new to the campagin. It'll be good to have a few who've done it before to show me the ropes. Because I have NO idea what I'm in for. :)
Hey, Trisha - thanks for visiting my blog. Wow, that's a lot or groups! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm in Contemp/Mainstream, partly because I'm like you, sort of all over the board - YA (mainstream, horror), women's fiction (with a darker edge), horror.
Hi Trisha,
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of groups. I'm in three this time, horror, shorts and paranormal. I can barely keep up. I'm just dotting around, making odd comments. I can't even think about posting. Still, it;s a lot of fun.
I dunno quite specifically what genres I write.. I mean, just as long as my imagination can come up with a good story, then I write it! :D However I've noticed a trend, which seems to be mostly science fiction, often crossed over with another genre. Fantasy is another one I enjoy writing, as well as historical fiction, adventure/thriller, and romance. But yeah, don't try to limit myself at all to a specific genre. I'm open to trying different kinds. :D
ReplyDeleteAnd I feel a bit stupid for asking, 'cause I just am very oblivious that way... What exactly is a campaign group?
Love the glove! What a great pic. I'm so glad I'm not the only one in multiple groups. I just really couldn't decide! Can't wait to see how the Campaign goes.
ReplyDeleteThat glove is hilarious! I'm in your contemporary group! Looking forward to more fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the glove love. haha. And it's excellent to see that I'm not the only one writing all over the shop in terms of genre! Makes for a fun time, doesn't it?
ReplyDelete@Griffinclaw The Campaign is like a huge blogfest hosted by Rachael Harrie on her blog. She has it set so that you can join a group of writers that write the same genre as you: http://rachaelharrie.blogspot.com/p/list-of-campaigners.html Those are the groups.
ReplyDeleteI'm in YA (All Genres) (2), New Adult/Crossover, and Poetry. I thought about Short Stories but decided against it. I didn't do much with it last time.
Urban Fantasy, Dark Fantasy and Romance! But I don't think Dark Fantasy was an option :(
ReplyDelete@Brooke - I think I only got put in one group last time, and it was a sort of 'general' group. This time was more fun with me being able to choose multiple groups at a crazy whim!
ReplyDelete@Liz - I adore the idea of dark fantasy, but haven't really read any (that I know of), or written any. I want to read about Dark Elves, too! hehe
Hi Trisha. Thanks for stopping by my blog. You must be a little frazzled with all the groups that you are in. You said on my blog, "Pleased to meet you and I found you in the campaign". Only...we've been visiting each others blogs for months now lol. I was kinda like...hmmm Trisha must be confused. /hugs
ReplyDeleteHehehe. OH DEAR. Like I said on your blog Michael, I haven't forgotten you, but yeah, my comment was so long that by the end of it I forgot where I was. LOL. Apologies!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're read/writing plenty. I find that the more variety you can fit into your artistic life the better:)
ReplyDeleteI think it's great you are in so many groups. I'm keeping it slow and steady with just a YA group and the SF group. I also write historical romance, but didn't want to overextend myself. Happy writing!
ReplyDeleteHi Trisha, I'm Rebekah, another fellow campaigner!
ReplyDeleteI write fantasy, sometimes YA, but mostly adult. I didn't have patience for teenagers when I was a teenager, so it's rarely that I cater to them, unless a story is just begging to be told :).
I'm pretty sure I'm in your Adult and Short Story groups.
Hi Trisha, so nice to meet you! I'm a new Campaigner--we're in the same adult fiction group. I write suspense and U.S. historical.
ReplyDeletehhehehe, yep, I joined a few groups too.
ReplyDeleteI write YA fiction, SciFi, fantasy, paranormal, dystopian, short stories, devotionals, AND I'm an Aussie lol.
@Mark - I totally agree! Might as well be overloaded with fun than languishing in just a little.
ReplyDelete@Bluestocking - I figured that, as Rachael H. put it, you get whatever you put in, so you can choose to put as little or as much effort in as you want...regardless of groups. But we'll see... Last time I slacked off more toward the end of the Campaign (Crusade).
@Rebekah - hi, good to meet you! I love fantasy, but I only have one major project. And it's languishing in "oh my gosh that's a mess" land right now. Has been for years, actually. It's more traditional fantasy though.
@Linda - thanks for stopping by! I haven't written suspense, unless you count the odd short story - I think it's a special talent for sure.
@Lynda - so glad to know that I'm not the only one writing in many different areas! I like the genre selection you have there.
I signed into several including the first three that you listed. Right now I don't recall the others. Hope the Campaign is productive for you.

Tossing It Out
Hi Trisha! I was already following your awesome blog anyway, but now I am in your Aussie/Kiwi group. See you there!
ReplyDeleteHi! I loved reading your posts. It sounds like you had a great adventure with your Dad.
ReplyDeleteHi Trisha :) Your list is totally intimidating!!! I'm YA fiction, non-fiction and Aus/NZ (yay!) Sooo cool to meet you, happy campaigning!
ReplyDelete@Lee - we must have a fair bit in common if we're in those groups together! hehe. Hope the same thing for you! Thanks for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDelete@Jen - great to meet other Aussies and Kiwis! I like knowing that I'm not the only one awake during our days...hehe
@Cathy - thank you! And yes, it was a very great adventure. I'm going to write about all of it here - only just begun!
@Jolene - I like these geographic groups. Nice touch for the third time around, Rach!! hehe. Very cool to meet you too! I could have joined more groups I guess, but I decided to...limit myself. ;)
Hey Trisha.
ReplyDeleteHello from a fellow romance campaigner. You signed up for that many groups? Wow! I'm duly impressed. Hope to get to know you better during the campaign. Thanks for stopping by my blog for a visit.
Hi there, fellow sci-fi campaigner,
ReplyDeleteSo you're a NaNoWriMo participant too? Awesomeness! Last year's NaNo was sci-fi for me, and this one will be too, I think. I look forward to seeing more of you in the weeks to come!
@Dora - thanks for stopping by! And yeah, I decided I might as well embrace who I am...a little more extensively than usual, at least. I could have gone even further if I'd been crazy enough at the time. hehe
ReplyDelete@fuzzymango - yes, I participate in NaNo every year! I think I skipped a couple of years back in the early 00s, and one year I failed. The rest of the time I've given it a go, and won. Can't wait for this year! One of mine will be sci-fi/fantasy combined. The other just paranormal.
Hi This is my first campaign and I have also signed in for a lot of groups (about six - and still working my way through the lists). I am in the same (short stories) group as you.
ReplyDeleteHello fellow romantic :-)
