Editing ctd., sort of (and foster kitty)

Since my last update, I've done a bit more editing - but since the weekend began, I haven't done any. Tonight I hope to get some more done, but I had a terrible night's sleep last night, with kitty rescue "stuff to do" pestering my mind, so I guess we'll see. :P

This morning while I was trying to get back to sleep after two hours awake and tinkering with said "to do stuff", one of my foster kitties, Maurizio, decided it was time to play his new favourite game - Tug on the Bit of Carpet That Isn't Meant to be Lifting But Is! It's an awesome game, sure, but at around 5:30 am on very little sleep I wasn't as in the mood for it as I usually might be! So I got my kitty spray bottle ready for the next time he started up with his tugging.

Of course he somehow sensed this was going on, because he quit the game immediately. But not wanting to encourage a later continuation, I locked him and the other fosters out of my room anyway, and managed maybe 40 minutes more sleep before my alarm went off.

So that's where I'm at today - sleep deprived, but reasonably happy I guess. And I have chocolate in my drawer here at work - I can tell you right now I won't be waiting till Chocolate Friday to crack that open (it's only Wednesday).

A to Z, house moving and NOT writing

Hi all! I know it's been a while since I posted (for me, by my usual standards), and I think it's because I'm a bit preoccupied right now with a few different things:

  1. I put an offer on a villa/mini house/thingy (I've seen it referred to as all these things and more), and am now waiting for settlement
    • I have 5 years' worth of accumulated "stuff" to sort through ahead of a potential early May move
      • I'm digitising all my old paperwork that I don't need to keep in paper form
      • I'm trying to figure out what furniture/other stuff to take with me and what to leave
  2. We have also been in a bit of chaos at work, but for the most part except for unpleasantness related to ongoing renovations happening around us, all that has calmed down.

The result of the above is that:

  1. I haven't actually written a new word or revised an old one during March
  2. I don't have an A to Z theme picked out yet (got a few ideas but nothing has seized me)

Thankfully, I'm not all that stressed about any of the above. I am very happy that it's almost the Easter long weekend and I will get a few more days than usual over the weekend to hang out at home chillaxing (and "sorting", of course). I have stocked up on junk food and wine, and I've got my DVDs all lined up too. heh. But I think this post probably explains my absence and the fact that I still haven't got through visiting all the participants of the top 10 movies blogfest, let alone the other blogfests/hops I've participated in lately.

I still intend to get all that done, as well as getting back to all my creative stuff...and deciding once and for all on an A to Z theme. Obviously the A to Z is the most pressing, but other than that I might just keep meandering for a while longer.

It's kind of nice, actually!

Anyway, I hope everyone has a very safe and happy Easter holiday. :) I think I'll be posting once more before March ends, with my latest travel post, but as of April you'll be seeing me a lot!

What's Your Chocolate? blogfest

Oh, yeaaaaaah, baby. I had to participate in this one. It's hosted by the ultra groovy Laura EnoM PaxBrinda Berry and Ciara Knight. The idea for this blogfest is as follows:

"Post about your favorite chocolate – what it means to you, where and when you indulge, a favorite memory – anything chocolate-related."

First, I will mention that we tend to pop into this delightful place just around the corner from work, Chocolateria San Churro. Here you can buy the sort of hot chocolate they made in Chocolat. So far I have not seen any Johnny Depps for sale - great shame, too - but in the meantime, I shall continue to enjoy the very, very guilty pleasures to be found in this naughty, naughty place. And yeah, we will go there for dinner sometime. ;)

In other news, you know what strange combination I absolutely swear by? White wine and dark chocolate - all at the same time. You take a bite of chocolate (must be dark chocolate, friends; no other kind is worthy), then take a sip of wine, and let it all swirl around together. No doubt this sounds gross to most or all of you, but to me, it was a wondrous discovery, and I do it whenever I can.

In closing, I will say that somewhere in the depths of my home's "storage" is a photo of an Easter bunny my mum gave me one year, that got melted in the sun. I can't find the photo, but I can give you a description I wrote of it back in the day:

"...The Easter bunny melted in the sun and looked all retarded. That was my favourite Easter bunny EVER. Major head injury bunny, but so cool."

And, to continue on the Easter note:

"I am one of those weirdos who is endlessly amused by the Easter eggs with stupid faces drawn on the wrappings. So when you take the wrapping off and smooth it out, it looks all ridiculous and skewed."
