Ivy and Jasmine and BuNo '12

At present, Ivy and Jasmine are my main characters. But I will probably have to rethink the name "Jasmine", because that is a little too Disney if you get what I'm saying. haha.

Ivy Night
is 16% complete

I've wound up writing at a slow and steady pace, doing the minimum amount of words each day. Usually I'd be spewing out 5k a day or more, but I've opted for the slower run. I'm really enjoying the story. A few days back, I was not only writing my day's word count but also going back through the story and injecting more "magic" and more "Disney" into it. Enter the cute, furry animals. None of them talk, except psychically. Not yet. I'm not sure they should. But if it's going to be real Disney-like, then they should talk out loud. Still, I don't have to make it that Disney.

Anyway, my slow writing pace for BuNo means that I can also keep working on other projects during June. That's how I got my revisions of FIRE done a few days ago. I made the occasional report of how my word count was getting whittled down, but the final results are in. I went from 146k (though way back when, I stated that my word count had originally been 148k!) to the current figure of 106,923. The ultimate goal is to get it to 95k, but for now I'm putting it aside and moving onto something else.

What, I don't know. I have a lot of catching up to do on my Chrysalis story revisions, so I could focus on that. However, another goal I set myself is to revise DAPHNE this year. Yikes! That is quite a big one. But I did set the goal, so I have to take a stab at it. It's just that it's not so much revision as a total rewrite. I'm not used to those yet. ;) I also have yet to finish off VICTORIOUS, my second novel from last year's NaNoWriMo. I've been working haphazardly on that, but it'd be good to get it done and dusted pretty quickly. Maybe even within the next week. Probably wishful thinking, but it can't hurt to make it a tentative goal.

Anyway, I hope you are all doing well with your current projects, and enjoying your Junes!

    1. Well, 5k a day until I get to maybe 80-90k total. hehe. Though I have been known to write ridiculously overbloated manuscripts. (140-150k)

  2. Excellent work on the edits! I too am doing only the minimum per day for NaNo. It doesn't stress me out as much doing it that way!

    1. Yeah, it's working nicely but I'm not used to moving so slowly. Happy to be quite relaxed though!

  3. I want to know how you write so many words! Please, spill your secrets to me!

It's amazing that you work on so much at once. I would like to do that, I have a million ideas, but I'm slow on a day-to-day pace. (Put me in NaNo though and I can kick butt.)

I'm not sure how to just do revisions without rewriting so what say you we switch? XD

Also (man this comment is all over the place), I still have one Chrysalis story left to write so you are definitely ahead of me!

    1. Um, how I write so many words is a) not caring if they're good words or not, b) typing really fast - I type over 100 wpm, maybe closer to 120. That's about it ;)

  4. As long as your Jasmine doesn't fall in love with a boy from the marketplace and run off to explore a whole new world, I think you're okay. :)

    1. Hehe, I should be right ;) There will not be any magic carpet rides in this novel. Or a boy from the marketplace. There's a boy from elsewhere instead.

  5. That is a lot of projects in the works.

I think cute animals without talking works.

  6. Jasmine is a very popular name right now. I think you'd be okay sticking with it.

  9. You're like me, I have a ton of projects, and I mean books on the go at once, I know which mood will dictate which I come to at any give time, but I really wish I could methodically concentrate on just one - something I did recently though; to get my travel anthology out, and it feels good to have finally done that; sat in my computer for months only needing an edit, such as it was. I often, when I am in the mood for one of them, say that I will have it finished at this rate in a week, or two, or four, but after a couple of days of working on it, I tend to have had enough and again move on to another, resulting in all being worked on, but none getting out. I too, therefore think, I should try to be a bit more methodical and just get down to it.

Jasmine is an alright name, but maybe you could shorten it to Jaz, or Jazzy or something... or how about Jade? Good luck.

    1. Yep, I like having lots of projects to choose from. My "task chart" that I've been working on this year has worked nicely. I have lots of different types of tasks to choose from.

  12. Definitely didn't get much done. A new medication I am on for my migraines makes the writing process a bit more difficult... not sure what to do about it. Glad your getting tons done!

    1. Sorry to hear about the hold-up, but I hope the migraines are being contained at least!
