IWSG #8 - I'm feeling pretty pumped ... for now ;)

It's the first Wednesday of September, and so it's time to post for the Insecure Writer's Support Group. This awesome group was founded by Alex J. Cavanaugh, but each week there are co-hosts, and this month they are:

Laura at My Baffling Brain, Mark Koopmans, Shah Wharton, and Sheena-Kay Graham

It's also the 3-year anniversary of IWSG's beginning! Now that is pretty bloody awesome!

Anyway, I am like any writer in that I have my bouts of insecurity, and I've often had that "this is crap" feeling when reading back through my own work. But lately I have to say I've been feeling quite confident. I know I can write, so all I have to do is get through the far more important editing process and I'll be ready to publish.

I think I am getting something of an editing complex, but this month, when it comes to my writing, I am feeling quite good. And I can totally imagine self-publishing something within the next year.

Let's see how long this feeling lasts, shall we? ;)

  1. 3 years! Man that makes me feel ... old. LOL Having the confidence that comes from knowing you've got the ability and the desire, and that you just need to stick with it to make it happen, is huge. Nothing is perfect the first time (or six in my case) through--but you can fix anything. I know I and lots of others will are anxiously waiting to cheer you on when you do cross the finish line. :)

    1. It's funny (and, yes, scary) how quickly time passes by sometimes!

Thanks for your support, E.J. :)

  2. Well, hang onto that feeling!
And I KNOW you can do it, Trisha! You have the ability, desire + the drive! What a potent combination!
    It's a win-win-win... all the way!
(Since you have so many amazing projects on the go, it will be really interesting to see what you'll publish first...)
    Happy IWSG Day!

    1. Thank you, Michelle! I know I can do it, too, but it's always that fear of finally pressing the 'publish' button that keeps me hesitant. Always scared there will be one more typo I overlooked. haha

  10. It would sure be nice if that feeling could be bottled for later, eh? The emotions of writing are very tide-like... Glad you're feeling good right now!

    1. Thanks, Hilary. I have one giant roadblock in my way right now, and it's my slackness with editing my current project. ;)
