Hello, 600th post

I started this blog in December, 2010 after hearing, as many of us do before starting out blogging, that aspiring authors should probably have some sort of online "platform". I think the general idea is to establish your online presence and 'brand'. I definitely started out with the 'online presence' thing in mind, but I never had a particular brand in mind, and I still don't.

Now in October, 2014, I'm still putting up posts about whatever I feel like on a particular day. I do participate in blogfests, book launches, tours, etc., so when it comes to those, my posts are a little bit - or a lot - pre-determined. But the only rule I really try to stick to with blogging in general is to post at least once a week. Previously I aimed for every 3 days, but I find having a general goal of one post per week works better.

It's a little way off my 4-year blogiversary, but 600 posts is a fun milestone to celebrate anyway! I'm so glad to be part of this community. You guys are awesome and I love reading your blogs & seeing what you have to say. And I really enjoy reading your books, too. ;) Particularly when I get awesome print copies of them. GO PRINT BOOKS, GO!

P.S. I'm not far off achieving my (admittedly quite modest) annual reading goal:

2014 Reading Challenge

2014 Reading Challenge
Trisha has read 37 books toward her goal of 40 books.

P.P.S. I am starting to think about what I want to write for NaNo, 2014. I have two ideas that are way ahead of all the rest. Haven't picked one yet, though.

  1. Congratulations on six hundred posts!
I've found my groove with twice a week. Just once for summer or holidays.
Only three books from your goal. That will be easy!

    1. Thanks, Alex!

Lately I seem to often post every 4 days, but then I will remember I have a scheduled post and so I will post two days in a row. It's pretty random ;) But I always have that base line of wanting to do at least one post a week, so if I look at my blog & see that it's 7 days since my last post, I'll scheme up something to post about. :P

  2. Congratulations! We started our blogs around the same time. Now I want to check and see how many posts I have. I don't think it's anywhere close to 600.

    1. I didn't realise we started in the same month, but I checked out your blog & saw that it's really so. :) It's been great knowing you in the blogisphere, Julie!

  3. Post every two (or four?!) days...600 posts--may I ask if you ladies are blogging superheroes?

Crazy congrats, Trisha! My eyes are still bugging out, but I think I'm beginning to digest the awesomeness of such news.

I always think I won't have anything to share...and then I usually find something. xD Oh, blogging woes. But clearly you all just breathe blogging.

Happy 600th--and I'll pop through for that 4th anniversary.

    1. Thank you, Hana :) And I'm like that - often don't have anything much planned to write about when I sit down to do a blog post.

  5. Hey Ho, Trisha. I've been pushing thoughts of NaNo into the back of my mind, scarily trying to finish editing my romance first. It might happen. Then I think I'll do NaNo my way and finish one of the 4 other unfinished mss I have languishing in my files. Congrats on your 600th post.

    1. Yeah, I was a little dismayed as well to realise NaNo was looming. But it's spurring me on to get on track with editing again, in the lead-up to November. I won't get to my goal, but I hope to at least get through another few chapters before Oct is over.

  8. Congratulations, Trisha! Wow, 600 posts is impressive!
I agree with you, blogging at least once a week is a must. There have been times where my children's book work has consumed my time and missed a few weeks here and there but I really do try my best. Blogging is such a wonderful way to meet new authors and readers as well as establishing some awesome new friendships=)
Oh, and I tried my best to get my blog link added to my "about" section of Google plus but every time I clicked on the "edit" button to add my link, my computer froze! I've been at it all morning=( I did, however, change my URL link to www.ginastoneheart.blogspot.com instead of Dawning on a New Day. I've been wanting to change my blog around so now because of your suggestion, I am playing around with it. I will also figure out this dang link issue on Google plus!

    1. Bummer about the "edit" button being annoying! But I'm going to go and check out your new URL anyway. And I love changing up my blog design, though it only really happens maybe once a year. Though I have been known to change fonts and text colours more often.

And I agree that blogging is great because of the people you get to interact with. They are the reason I keep coming back to this blog!

    2. It's the most annoying thing! Every time I click to insert my link, blogger freezes on me. I will keep trying. I think it might be a glitch with my computer because it was doing the same thing when I tried to upload photos on linkedin. Ugg

  10. Congratulations on your 600th post! It's great to acknowledge things like that. I love blogging and the blogging community.

Good luck with NaNo as well! I think I might use it to finish my second novel, but I'm not sure whether to officially sign up or to just quietly do it :) Good luck anyway!

    1. I did NaNo 'unofficially' one year. Didn't win. ;)

I can never resist the lure of participating 'officially', nowadays. :P I should be continuing to edit, but I like the idea of producing something new, at least during one part of every year.

  13. Congratulations on making 600 posts - I don't even know my number, but I'm down to posting once a week too. I've got to finish my writing goal this year. Book 3 or bust! LOL
Another congrats on your reading goal - mine is down this year - again that writing goal! Okay, okay, I'm back at it as soon as I finish this comment! LOL
PS: Thanks for your wonderful comments on my blog - so, so appreciated!

  14. 600th post, Mazel Tov!!! I got into blogging for the same reasons, and also am down to one post a week (sometimes begrudgingly). I haven't been following folks as much as I used to, which I regret and am trying to make up for. Good for you, for doing NaNoWriMo again - I tried (and failed) in 2008. :-) But I'd like to try it again...some day. Meanwhile, I'm, like, 9 books behind schedule in my own Goodreads challenge! Gah! :-)
